Post-op ml ammount

Recommended Posts

Hello my friends (tips hat)

Got home couple hours ago from having gastric sleeve. Could someone please tell me a rough idea of how many millilitres per day my intake should be on this liquid diet. I am 6 ft 2 and 365 pounds.

Thanks

Redmond

You want to work up to 2 litres, or 64oz a day. This I could not accomplish in the first week, but do your best, I never got in less then a litre though. By the 2nd week post op I was rockin the fluids.

To get my fluids in that first week I needed to set an alarm on my cell phone to beep every 3 minutes to remind me to take a sip, sip, sip. You should always have a drink in your hand, the last thing you want is a readmit to hospital for dehydration.

Good luck, it gets easier, I'm 7 weeks out and I'm loving my sleeve!

@@Redmond -- You should have been given printed instructions on this and other post-op matters before today, like at your last appointment so that you'd have a chance to clarify with the staff and stock up ahead of time. Nothing wrong with asking here, but call your surgery practice for details.. Keep on top of them for info as you go along.

That information should have been included with your discharge instructions. Call your program to clarify if they didn't give you anything in writing.

you should have been given instructions by your nutritionist and surgeon. Everyone gets different instructions. I was told that my goal was 64 oz

Thanks Chanti and Kate

You are very welcome! We're all on this journey together you know.

Hope you are recovering well. Rest and fluids were my only priorities in the first week...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
