What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

Small portions of all my favorites. Key for me is to avoid grazing all day.

I will be in Vegas in my favorite suite at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where I will be splurging on sports wagering, black jack playing and shopping. I know on Thanksgiving night we will be going to Craftsteak and there I will have the Lobster Bisque and Diver Sea Scallops.

I am exciting for my whole family to be getting together for the week more than anything!

I want the normal Thanksgiving food but can't have some of it! I may stay in bed so I can stay compliant

Last year because I was only 8 weeks post op, I made what my son and hubby wanted, ham.

Not this year, I am making traditional thanksgiving dinner: turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potato soufflé, mashed potatos, green bean casserole, Brussels, cranberries and pumpkin pie.

I will likely have a small taste of everything with an emphasis on turkey. After tasting everything I will be probably past full so I will likely not touch the stuffing or pie. Don't really need to go there.

I'm going to my parents house she is going to cook me a piece of fish with a few pieces of scallops and some sides turnip butternut squash wish I could have a bite of the stuffing but haven't even tried meats besides rolled up deli meats so turkey is definitely out

I'm having my gallbladder out the day before so I probably won't be eating anything. :(

But my family is under orders to pack up the leftovers so I will be eating turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, yams, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie in a week or so. My post-VSG diet consists of moderation, not deprivation. ;)

A little bit of EVERTHING....but, because of my band...it will be very little...so I need to have a taste of it all.

I enjoy my new life, and I don't punish myself....

Since surgery, DIET is just a four letter word....now it's a lifestyle. And Thanksgiving is definitley part of life.

I am with B52, small portions of everything. I will be cooking the turkey and dressing, other family and friends will bring sides. last year I had a small portion of everything. didn't overeat which was wonderful. I did save some room for pumpkin pie which is my favorite. since I had surgery I have felt reborn. I can enjoy Thanksgiving without guilt. I have tons of energy and can cook all day and still enjoy everyone's company.

Like others, I will be eating a little bit of everything, definitely slanted towards turkey for the Protein. Looking forward to it.

Good luck with the surgery my dear. Been there, done that. You will feel so much better once you are done with the post op discomfort. Gall bladder attacks are horrible, aren't they?

Yep, worst pain ever (and I've broken my back and had my neck fused!)

I've had 4 attacks, but kept postponing surgery because they are 3-4 months apart with no symptoms in between. But Thanksgiving or Chritmas are the only "convenient" times for me to have surgery due to my work schedule, so I'm taking advantage of my window before the next attack. Besides, the stone count in my gallbladder keeps growing :(. Guess it's time.

Thanks!

I am taking loaded twice baked mashed cauliflower casserole!! HEAVENLY!! That and turkey with a little gravy! Everybody will be a little healthier for it! With that, no one needs potatoes, cuz they taste like potatoes and the texture is just like potatoes (thank you, food processor). I'm sure folks will bring rolls, and Desserts. But I will be full with my little bit of turkey and cauliflower. I can't wait!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
