Getting confused

Recommended Posts

:D

Good Morning everyone well me again and I am getting confused ehre. My Insurance Co approved me for Sept 4 for my surgery and now the Dr. moved it to Sept 10 which means that the Insurance company will have to approve the date change am I correct ? Then I see the Dr. per op on Sept 5 which is wonderful but no one is telling me what kinds of tests will be done on me at that time but since I am going there tomorrow I will try to find out everything. Did anyone have all their tests on the pre op day? like sleep test, ekg, stress test etc or was all that thrown in together or seperate dates for that. I have a good health history according to my attending Dr. seen her yesterday, she said my ticker was in great shape and that all my labs came back as normal especially my liver function tests no the Dr. said she will fax over my new information today to my bariatric center. Guess I am getting nervous I ahd to get an ointment yesterday for the hives yep just a real bundle of nerves. Oh I was never told to start a liquid diet :hungry:before surgery is that normal? Hope someone has the answers for me.

Thanks

Sharon:clap2:

Just notify your insurance company that the surgery date has been moved... Don't worry, you won't be "unapproved" because the date changed!

I'm just starting the process but already know that I do not have to have a sleep study or stress test - I would think you'd know that by now too.

Try to relax... write your questions down before you go to the dr. tomorrow... that way you won't forget anything!

No they shouldn't do all your tests that day, because they would not have the results back. You do those now and up to your surgery.

Pre-oP is just a formality and review of the procedure and if your doctor gives handouts and books, you get them that day. You pay your copay and etc. Does your doc have a bariatric coordinator? if so call her with your questions. I bothered mine constantly and sometimes still have questions 7 months later.

Wishing you the best!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
