So what I'm struggling the most is taking crushed pills especially the pills to prevent gold stones ugh tried putting the powder in Soup and a Protein Shake and I just really can't even the liquid for of pepcid. I think that's what it is. How did you guys get through it crushing pills?

I am still pre-op, but I did a lot of crushed pills in my early teen years because I was crazy stubborn about swallowing them lol.

Rather than trying to get through an entire Protein shake mixed with medicine, I would try getting the crushed pill down with as little food or liquid as possible. Think maybe a small bite of applesauce/pudding/yogurt, or maybe a tablespoon of a Protein Shake. That way you can get through the icky taste much more quickly and don't have to suffer through sipping down an entire 8oz Protein Shake that tastes like gross medicine.

Can you mix the crushed pill with a little honey?

I know it's pretty sugary but it's better than not getting the pills into you...

I've tried everything and the taste is still horrible. In other forums I was told that after four weeks is ok to take regular Vitamins. I'm clearing it my doc next week.

Sorry for misunderstanding; my post-op instructions include pudding and yogurt as part of the 'full liquid' diet--to begin immediately upon discharge from the hospital.

But my point still stands--can you try mixing it into only a tablespoon or two of a Protein shake, instead of the whole thing? It'll be much easier for taste to get it down in a few mouthfuls instead of a whole shake, especially since you can't chug anymore.

I don't have to crush my meds, I had my doc prescribe liquid medications. My surgeon did say hiwever, if I had trouble with a Multivitamin or something to mix it with a little applesauce or apple juice.< /p>

I wasn't required to take such pills after my surgery.

I gave myself daily injections for anti-clotting and took a liquid Vitamin.

That was all...

I understood you were after less "Ewwwy" suggestions for ways to take your crushed pills...

Crushing said pills and mixing them with honey is simply one such suggestion...

Applesauce or a tiny bit of nut butter. I was allowed 1 tbsp a day and saved it just to take meds. The almond butter was a strong enough taste to mask the flavor of the pills.< /p>

I have the same problem. I just started taking my pills uncrushed at 1 weeks out which I know it not what I am supposed to do, but I got the medicine down that way.

I'm pretty sure my surgeon said the gallbladder medicine he prescribed for post op is liquid. I'm gonna be really bummed if it's a pill I'm gonna have to crush.

I'll find out Thursday when I go pick up all my prescriptions.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
