I'm a singer and plan on getting the surgery soon.

So I'm a singer. And I have a big powerful voice and I'm nervous that with the surgery my voice is going to change. I'm known for being a great singer and it's one of the only things that's kept me strong for so long. It was something that made me feel beautiful when I never felt it because of my weight. It may seem like a stupid question, but I just want to be sure that nothing changes. Anyone know if the surgery would affect it?

No idea if it would change it or not, but maybe talk to a voice coach for advice ? I can only think the weight loss would improve your health and breathing, which would enhance your singing. Lucky you to have such a beautiful gift !! Hope all goes well for you !!

Hi there, I can't imagine that weight loss would do anything but help you open up and sustain even more, but of course I'm not expert. Many of us had all sorts of little anxieties popping up as the date drew near for such a life-changing experience. Choosing yourself and your healthy future is such a powerful thing. I'm so happy to have the appetite monster off of my back and to be able to use al that energy in other ways. Here's to creativity, expression and joy.

I know I have seen a similar post to yours in the past on this site, but it has been a while. Try doing a search and see what you find.

I can't imagine that a lapband would have a long-term impact on your singing. Your abdomen might be a little bit sore immediately post-op, though.

Best of luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
