@anewme2015 you said "I follow it with a day or two return to Protein Drinks. I find it stops the cravings in their tracks."

I have heard of the 5 day pouch reset but what do you mean? You drink nothing but 2 Protein Drinks the whole day for two days in a row?

Yes I do two days having 4 Premier Protein shakes then I transition to shakes just for Breakfast and lunch and a good dinner then I transition to shakes just for breakfast and my other meals food. It works for me.

Oh and I should clarify that the 5 day pouch reset is different. I've done that reset to get back on track too and I find it also effective.

Hey all, almost to that 6 month mark!! [emoji51]

I feel like I have failed.. I did so great at the beginning followed the diet and exercise routine to a T.. But even right after surgery I was hungry, my hunger never went away and the restriction that everyone talks about just isn't there for me.. I had a 6inch subway chicken breast sandwich for lunch and besides some of the excess bread I can eat the whole thing no problem.. I never get that "full" feeling that most people talk about and I can eat sugary foods and greasy foods without any stomach upset.. I wish I would just get dumping! Right after the surgery I even asked my Dr if he actually did the surgery and still 6 months later I wonder the same thing.. If it wasn't for the weight loss I have had I would want my money back for him leaving my full stomach in there Lol... Surgery was October 14th SW 218 CW 153.. The last month weight loss is a very slow crawl..

I can relate to all the people who say they still feel fat.. I feel huge and squishy as well! People see me and tell me how "tiny" I am yet me and that word do not go together.. I still feel like the fat girl who wants to hide.. This has got to be more of a mental thing since I can now wear a size 7, I should be happy with that..right? And my ARMs ugh! Even in a small/medium top I don't think I can ever wear a short sleeved shirt.. I keep waiting for the day my mind will catch up with my body.. Maybe then I won't feel so negative about me..

But on another note.. My Hair loss, although still occurring it has lightened a little!

Sorry for the long rant that's all over the place..

I guess just because I can eat more than anyone I have talked to that has had this surgery doesn't mean I should.. But most people who have had this surgery don't get hungry but mine never skipped a beat.. I have started trying to drink a gallon of Water a day.. Hopefully this will help with my hunger... I'm on day two- so I'll let you know how things go!

You all have been such a huge help in not feeling so alone since I chose not to tell anyone about my surgery other than my husband.. So for that I THANK YOU!!!

Went to my 6 month checkup this week. Blood pressure is outstanding. Very pleased with my weight loss. My new weight goal is to get to 200 lbs in the next 6 months.

This week I have been experiencing headaches. Tuesday morning before 7am I had one, took Tylenol and it didn't touch it. I finally went home around 10 and it lasted until late afternoon.

Thursday morning I got one on the way into work and it lasted until yesterday afternoon.

I have an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow to see if we can figure out what is going on.

Hi Ron, Your weight loss is fantastic!!!! Mine has stalled a little the last 2 months but I'm still loosing. I too have problems with headaches, mostly coming from my neck. I have noticed if I get dehydrated which I can tell when I use the bathroom I seem to have more of them. I hope the doctor finds out what is going on, headaches are miserable!

I'd love to hear from anyone who had their surgery October 2015. I'm struggling lately with carbs and remaining on track. How are others doing? The 7 month track is hard. Maybe we can support each other to remain focused and losing? I'm not being nearly as careful as I was and I'm disappointed in myself.

Hi @@anewme2015 I had my surgery on Oct 13, and am not doing too bad. I've been on a mission to add Protein to my favorite foods and get rid of some of the carbs. Mostly I end up with frozen Yougert and ice cream which are mostly a form of frozen protein drinks. I also discovered Syntrax Nectar protein drinks which have zero carbs. What type of foods are you struggling with? I think I have downloaded every chicken recipe from Pinterest and am getting kind of sick of chicken. I usually then switch over to frittatas. I'm sure you can get back on track. I've learned it is just like exercise and you have to find what you like if you are going to stick with it.

@@anewme2015 I know what you mean, snacking seems to feel better on my stomach than meats & meals which I don't seem to be able to eat much of, always go back to soft foods for me, which may or may not be the best. Greek yogurt is a staple as cottage cheese along with my daily Protein Shake with coffee. I also eat a lot of chili & Soups. Frozen 80 cal fudge bars I love! The trouble I have is we have a lot of company since we live on the lake & I'm always buying chips etc. for them! Need to stop, because what ever is left over when they leave if they don't take it, I munch on!!!! I don't like to waste sadly, the clean your plate & all the starving kids syndrome i still struggle with. Our appetites are coming back & the more you eat of carbs, sugar etc. we will want! Still a struggle!!!!!

@@kaitlynm Your weight loss has been really good!!! I think your right about the Protein, its so hard to get enough! I forget to use the protein powders in stuff & I have the unflavored! I guess I need to set it out where I can see it to remind myself!!!

I'm having the same post 6-month issues, too. I seem to do a lot of snacking because, well, it is easy. i have found some low sugar/carb snack bars i like and i seem to grab them way too often. however, the carbs are still there and the Protein is not high enough to compensate. i need to weed out the Snacks and walk a heck of a lot more. my weight has stalled, as well, and i am still not sure if it has to do with me hitting my peak weight loss or the fact that I am not exercising. probably that i am not exercising and now my metabolism is suffering. I do drink lots of Water and get all my protein on most days, so that is something. I am also religious about my Vitamins. Hair loss has slowed. I've lost 85 pounds approx. and I am feeling great, just feel like I need to loose another 20 to be at my goal weight. I'm not giving up yet!

@@irishaggie I think you are doing fine. I've lost 100 lbs since pre surgery, but I have 45 yet to go to hit my goal. I work out every day between 1 to 3 hours and yet you are not that far behind me. If you could work some in it might jump start your losses again. I just came off a month long stall. I lost 5 pounds last week all of a sudden. It seems to have stopped now unfortunately. I have a feeling this is going to be how it goes for most of the weight loss. Stall, loss, longer stall, loss, etc. hang in there. We will get there and hopefully by the time we are a year out we will be trying to figure out how to stop the losses.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
