Losing Weight In Chunks

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved in Aug 12. I lost 20 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks and then the scales stopped. Then I only lost another pound, but this last weekend I lost 3 pounds in two days. Did I just get over my stall or is this common? I never expected to be able to set a watch to the weight loss, but wasn't expecting it to be in chunks.

Thoughts? TIA!

Agreed, it's perfectly normal.

Very normal.

The scale weight varies alot by how much Water you happen to be holding at that moment... so as far as weight loss it is really the long term trend to monitor.

Totally normal. This about it like this, you lost a bunch of weight and your body is freaking out. It wants to reset itself, give it a week (sometimes two) and the weight loss will start again. I am 6 months and so far I have 5 stalls - almost one per month.

I agree I notice that I seem to "stall" when I would have normally had a TOM, which I haven't had frequently since I am now menopausal. I just don't freak out too much unless I start gaining. Then I just keep an eye on it to make sure I don't get past 5 or so and generally I drop that amount, plus some, in a day or so.

I was sleeved in July and every few weeks have a stall that lasts anywhere from a few days to two weeks. I haven't figured out the triggers, but just roll with it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
