Mentor/Sleeve Buddy in the Philadelphia Area?

I'm still waiting in my approval and surgery date but I know I would benefit from the experience of someone who has already regained their footing after surgery. I despise the therapist that runs the monthly support group at my local hospital, so I'm looking for someone who might be willing to support me through the transitional period just before and a couple months after surgery. I'm sure lots of questions will arise, and my hospital is inhospitable, slow to make appointments and generally unpleasant, so I know that I won't be leaning on them very much after my wounds have healed. Chestnut Hill/Mt Airy area.

@tdc-- did you use one of the Doc's Dr. Meilahn recommended? (I did-- I forget his name though) What insurance do you have?

My insurance was submitted in Thursday. Hopefully I will here something this week.

Fingers crossed! If all goes as planned when will your pre-ops diet start?

Carlie said to start the 24th. Right before Thanksgiving. But that actually gives me 16 days liquids. Why would it be so long?

That is a bit longer than usual, I wonder why. Mine was exactly 14 days.

I was hoping you'd at least be able to get through thanksgiving. The first few days a tough, but it does get easier.

Just got a call from insurance and the gave me my verbal approval and approval number.

@@tdc I think you had your surgery by now, right? How are you doing?

Hey, So I Went in on the 8th. Never had a problem clotting before but this time I did. I was pre diabetic and was about to go into diabetic shock jumped to 250. So after all being said an Iron and blood transfusion, days of Iv fluids, ultrasound on kidneys to make sure they were ok and my labs finally returning to normal. I am finally home yesterday evening and the gas is crazy.. so today I am just sipping and eating sugar free popsicle, I think the anemia has me craving cold things.

Damn, sorry you got off to such a rough start. I hope things going forward are status quo.
