@@Babbs, I stand corrected. I drank a **** ton as it was, which wasn't good for me anyway. :D

Here it is straight from Starbucks website:

It’s the same rich and creamy Caramel Macchiato taste you expect, with fewer calories. On this lighter treat we used sugar-free vanilla Syrup, freshly steamed nonfat milk, our delicious Espresso Roast, and then we top it all off with a velvety-rich foam and a buttery caramel drizzle......

so the caramel drizzle still has sugar. But they use the sugar free vanilla syrup.

I still hit Starbucks once in a while. Not as much as I used to. I just try to be smart about it.

Usually have an iced coffee...those cold brews are great. The skinny vanilla lattes are yum, and have a good amount of Protein too.

I just stay away from the high calorie, sugary stuff. Just like any place else.

Oh yeah Flat Whites are perfection. I haven't had one since surgery. I might splurge on one today

There are lots of good options at Starbucks. I used to be addicted to white mochas, a triple venti white mocha was my drink of choice for years. It has like 900 calories though, a 1/2 day of calories, and I would get a coffee cake with it. I broke myself of that habit years ago.

If you can carry your own sweetener and learn to love black coffee of very little cream, you really don't have to give up your coffee forever. You just have to be smart about it.

I have given up basically everything with surgery, no alcohol and a laundry list of other things. I'm not giving up coffee. Plus after surgery your mind can be foggy and your concentration not what it used to be and coffee helps.

I've never had a white mocha before. Sounds yummy! I also just stick to the same quad Carmel macchiato with extra carmel. Then I found a mom and pop coffee shop that makes these frozen buckeye frappés OMG pure heaven.

They don't have sugar free caramel at Starbucks. Used to be a barista...the caramel definitely has sugar. The other flavors come sugar free.

I think that's changed because my daughters friend is a barista now and said they can do that one sugar free (I asked) but she certainly could have been mistaken.

Flat whites 3 times per week for me!

I will have to try again, I had one and was underwhelmed. Maybe it was the barista.

Ah there ya go! She told me without the drizzle I assumed it was choc drizzle apparently it's caramel.

My daughter has given up sugar because of an inflammatory joint condition so she asked her friend what she could still have. Sadly no more iced chai lattes for her, the chai syrup has sugar.

My downfall is the white mocha I have tried all other types but can't break away from white chocolate mocha. I have it with nonfat milk and with equal but don't know if I will be able to give that up for long....at least if I know I can one day have a tall it's better than having a venti....

They are hard to make. It takes skill, the rookie baristas have a hard time with it.

What I like about them is with the milk and the way they are made they are naturally a little sweet and you don't need sweetener.

I don't use anything with splenda it in anymore, but if you really love white mochas, you can make them at home.

This is a very very similar, almost identical taste. I have a Verismo machine and used to make these in the winter, but I don't eat splenda so I gave them up. If I really get desperate for one though, this is the solution.

They are $9 or something like that at World Market. World Market also has a HUGE selection of all these sugar free syrups so if you want to make anything sugar free, hit up world market and there is a wall of syrups to choose from.

Thanks I will give it another try! I had heard good things so was rather disappointed.

It’s a tough one! Some people are better off going cold turkey, while others like to ease out of it. I would suggest getting over a caffeine addiction before surgery so that you are finished with the headaches from withdrawal before surgery. You don’t want to be going through withdrawal symptoms at the same time you’re dealing with post-op recovery.

One thing to think about when getting over caffeine addiction is to get enough sleep to make up for the lack of energy you may feel without your usual caffeine jolt. Also, stay hydrated to fight headaches.

Also be aware that even Decaf coffee isn’t usually allowed after surgery. It is acidic, even though it doesn’t have the caffeine.

Later, when you add decaf or even caffeinated coffee back in, there are tons of fun low-cal drinks you can try with sugar-free flavoring syrups.< /p>

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
