I attended my pre-op nutritional/surgical orientation today. I'm scared to death! I was doing fine up until now. There's so much to remember, keeping supplements straight. Any post op sleevers have any requests? Does it get easier?

I just made a list of the things I needed to do post op. One week post op and everything is part of the daily routine.

Best of luck!

Yes, it gets better and you get used to it I was nervous too about remembering everything and I made note cards but I rarely use them. My diet stages go 2 weeks at a time so it's easy to get used to those. My supplements are easy too. My Lexapro, Prevacid and Multivitamin. In one week I will add my B Complex and Calcium. That's it.

You will get used to it. The most important thing is to drink, drink, drink.

I ordered all of my pills online, and I keep them all in a little box next to my laptop where I can see them. That way I remember to take them

Yes it gets easier.

My program gave us binders with the entire process start to 1 year out from pre to post-op. It had sample menus, recipes, Vitamin, supplement and Protein shake.powder recommendations. It became my bible of sorts. If your program doesn't provide them, go to the dollar store and buy a binder and start your own. When you go to appointments like this, take notes and add them to your binder. Most importantly if you have questions do not hesitate to call your nutritionist or program coordinator and ask until you understand.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
