I am in the northwest suburbs , Geneva area. How is everything going for you? My surgery is October 16th at St. Alexius In hoffman Estates.

@jayhayenene, I'm having my surgery tomorrow at Alexian Brothers. How are they there?

Hello everyone.

I had sleeve surgery last November 24, 2015 (Thanksgiving day) in Torrance, CA. My husband and I moved to Downers Grove, Illinois last May. The move was worked related and I was not ready to leave the support I had. I have kind of stalled out since the move. Prior to surgery I weighed 265 and now I'm 190. But I've been at this weight since June. Is there support groups in the area that hold regular post-op meetings? Or perhaps some of you would like to get together for lunch or dinner on a regular basis to discuss our goals and stumbles. I know I loose best with accountability.

For all of you University of Chicago patients, what did you think?

I have BcBs of Il and wonder what the time frame from my first appointment on December 21, 2016-surgery date will be. I had the sleep study done last summer. Chest X-ray and liver ultrasound done a month ago, along with lab work. I also have normal, to sometimes low, blood pressure, as well as no diabetes and low cholesterol. I feel like I have all my ducks in a row, but it's been over two weeks and I'm still waiting on a letter from them, entailing what they still need. I am so impatient!!

Happy New Year fellow sleevers. I'm currently waiting for approval from BCBS IL - paperwork was submitted this week - all of my clearances are complete. Hoping for a quick response - so I can get surgery scheduled ASAP. Getting sleeved by Dr. Joyce at Silver Cross in New Lenox. I feel like I've been jumping through hoops for the last five weeks - trying to get appointments with all the specialists and getting all the tests performed. Just joined this forum. - so far I'm finding it really helpful. Feeling that weird mix of scared and excited at the same time. Please feel free to offer helpful advice or information. Good luck to all.

Hey! Dr. Joyce did mine on 1-23-17. You can PM me if you have questions about the process or whatever.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
