Uh oh ... I ate a strawberry

Recommended Posts

While at work today, I was having a somewhat heated conversation with my husband over an issue with our business partner. I really wasn't focused on eating or food at all but all the sudden, I picked up a strawberry and chewed it like the old days and swallowed it. Needless to say, it was neither pureed nor mashed. OMG I totally panickedmy poor husband was reassuring me it wasn't a cheeseburger just a little piece of strawberry. So far, I feel ok ??? I totally got lost in the moment ...

YOU DID WHAT!!!!!!!

Drop down and give us 50 push-ups lady!

:)

Just kidding, you should be fine. Some surgeons don't recommend eating foods like strawberries or nuts too early on due to the surgery. I don't remember for how many weeks.

There are plenty of other healthy fruits you can enjoy right now if you want, instead.

As long as you feel okay, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you do start experiencing issues, call your doctor ASAP.

Since you're down 44lbs, I'm assuming you're at least a month post-op?

Your new tummy should be able to handle full foods at this point.

Just be careful about how much and how fast you try them.

You guys are missing the big question. WAS IT DELICIOUS?? Seriously, it's not a big deal if it doesn't cause you pain.

The good news is that you chewed it. My surgeon's opinion is that as long as you can chew it to puree consistency in your mouth, it's good to go. That said, anything with tiny little particles like strawberries should probably be avoided at this point. I've had similar foods with similar little particles and have not experienced a problem.

I didn't chew it well at all. But thankfully, I had no issues whatsoever ????????

I did that a couple times early out, too. Isn't it funny how we just mindlessly used to eat? Just out of habit, I would pop something in my mouth while on the phone like you were or just even seeing something on the kitchen counter.

Old habits die hard!

I'm 2.5 weeks out and I've mindlessly grabbed both a tortilla chip and a wheat thin. That wheat thin was DELICIOUS. Sigh :)

I was chopping carrots and just picked up a piece and put it in my mouth RAW. As soon as I did I realized what I'd done and spit it out before swallowing. Such a habit!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
