I'm about 6lbs from goal! I can't believe it still. I don't want to loose any more after I hit goal I just want to really work on building more muscle. I'm 100% happy with where I'm at now.

I am 35 lbs away from goal August 5th was 1 year...I feel like I should have been there already and I go back to my doctor Sept 9th....should it only take a year or do you think it is normal to not make it in 1 year?

MyDoc says 18mo. i'm still 19lbs from goal at month 13.5 So I need to find a way to step it up. I've been on a plateau for awhile now. Hope it breaks soon.

Yay

I am at goal, its amazing to feel like a normal person...i dont track calories and eat what i want within reason. I am no longer obsessed with dieting or eating. Saying that though i would really like to lose another 7 pounds!

I am about 2lb away from the original goal that I set myself. My surgeon didn't really give me a goal - they seem to regard you as successful once you have a BMI within the normal range so they have been satisfied with my loss for months.

If I stay at this weight I will be happy but wouldn't mind if I lost a bit more.

I feel so much better than I did when I started this process. I can fit into normal clothes and look OK. I no longer hide behind the camera.

I love my band.

The best idea that worked fo rme was t start journaling everything I ate again so i could see where I might be able to cut out a few calories at the same time that I increased the frequency and/or intensity of my exercise. The 2 together give you a good kick in the butt...

Thx Sandi, I went back to "my fitness pal" today. It said my last weigh in I weighed 242lbs. Well I guess that tells me I haven't been there in way to long.

I can't explain how I feel being so close to goal. I have 3lbs. to go. I met my first goal of 150 by my doctor about a month and half ago, and he asked what my goal was and I told him 135. I had a few issues the past few months with being too tight so I have been going for fills and unfill but now I seem to be on the right track. I have not been this weight since 20+ years, It has been a wonderful experience for me the only regret I have is that I waited so long to do it, I feel like a totally new person and am enjoying the new me!

Congrats, I can't begin to think about the 130's. I'm fighting really hard to get to 150. I have just a few more pounds to go and they just don't seem to want to lrt go.

You have done really well and once again congrats on all the hard work. I noticed you were banded the same day I was just a year later and you've lost so much, any secrets you want to share(LOL)

I guess I'll get there I think I'm just a bit of a slow loser it doesn't really bother me as long as i'm losing. and I'm sure I'll get there sooner or later.

Thank you, I too, never thought I would be in the 130's, in fact when I started this journey I told myself I would be happy just getting under 200. I have no secrets I just truly stuck to the band rules, and did a lot of walking, I never joined a gym or anything, because I wasn't sure I would stick to it, but walking you can do anytime or anyplace. My daughter who is 18 would walk with me all the time and get me going on those days I didn't want to. But otherwise really no secrets. I was wandering if you or anyone else who are close or have reached goal have a fear of gaining weight back? I have been on so many diets and lost a lot of weight only to gain it back, and lately people all seem to want to tell me about how they know someone who had LAP-BAND® and they gained all their weight back and more, I feel sometimes people want to see you fail.

I think your right about that. but I just don't care what people say because I don't know anyone who has the band that has gained their weight back and the only ones on the forums I notice gaining weight back are the ones that don't follow the rules so I don't really worry about that. I guess I'm slack on the exercise and that's why it's taking me so long. I seem to start and stop over and over agaln. I'm really gonna work hard on that because your right if i can't do anything else I can walk. Can I ask you how far do you walk each day?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
