I'm 1 month and a week post op and I've started eating soft foods such as rice and Pasta ect. But I feel like I'm consuming too many carbs? I'm not sure but I know it's because it's the only thing that I can stomach right now and can put down easily; I'm scared I'm going to stop loosing weight though...I've lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks but I haven't lost anything ever since then and I'm scared I'm not going to...idk what to do? I think I need to start working out more but is this just a stall? Or am I eating too many carbs/food in general???

Protein-rich foods are what you should be aiming for, such as scrambled eggs, Beans, hamburger or other ground meats. My carb limit was about 20g...for the day. Check with your NUT about it, they should give you really good guidelines. Good luck to you!

Please talk to your NUT. The last thing you need to be eating is rice and Pasta. Since you are on soft foods try: cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tuna, soft fish, refried Beans, etc. if you must have carbs stick with complex carbs like oatmeal or soft-cooked vegetables. Try soft-scrambled eggs (although some people have trouble with eggs early out).

Did your NUT provide you a list of appropriate foods? Why not give your NUT a call?

Is that what your surgeons plan recommends? My plan has nothing but Protein for 6 weeks then until six months only carbs are fruits and veggies. Sounds way too soon. Slippery slope...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
