Here's my favorite Mexican recipe.

I started eating this when I was released to the Soft Foods Stage/Puree Stage.

And just pureed it in my food processor.

I lived on this concoction for months post-op. :-)

I am a bit farther down the road than you. My surgery was in May, that being said, I do enjoy refried Beans with a little cheese, love fat free cottage cheese with a little Tomato sauce over steamed eggplant finished with a bit of low fat mozzarella or sprinkle of parmesan. I can do veggies now so have been loving spinach and mushrooms in eggs like little baby quiches. Do enjoy a nice tuna salad too. Have been loving squash and zucchini too. I do eat chicken, fish and turkey too, but am embracing veggies now. I will get some of my recipes with directions together and shoot them over to you tomorrow.

I'm still on liquids but here are some things I'm looking forward to eating

tuna, egg, and avocado salad

baked cottage cheese - mix cottage cheese with some Tomato sauce and mozarella, bake until melty

I don't know what you would call it but form a slice of ham into a cup in a muffin tin, add an egg into it an top with some cheese, bake until egg is cooked

Here is my favorite recipe!

White Bean chicken Chili

48oz jar great northern Beans

16 oz jar of salsa (any brand you prefer) I like Paul Neumans mild chunky salsa

16 oz canned chicken white meat

1 package low fat cheddar or, colbyjack, or 4 cheese Mexican.

2 tablespoons cumin

Mix all ingredients in a crockpot and cook on high for 2-3 hours.

Yields about 10- 1 cup servings.

26 grams Protein per serving

I puréed this for that stage of the post op diet. Great food for soft or regular stage! A fellow sleever brought this to the chili cook off at work and it won! It is now a family favorite!!!

http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/348952-low-carb-crab-cakes/

I like seafood. I don't like Beans or mexican food or a lot of what most people post as bariatric meals. So I end up eating really clean, lol. I just have a lot of baked fish, and crab cakes.

This weekend I am going to experiment with making shrimp and grits with cauliflower instead of grits. If it works out well. I'll post it.

This is a really good site with low carb and gluten free recipes. http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
