Hello...

I was sleeved on the 3rd September. I have been managing all my Water and protein! I feel like I'm doing something wrong! Haha no pain except the aches feeling where they did the operation. sleeping fine! I spoke to my nurse as I was expecting to feel worse than this. She told me because I have been mobile since 10 minutes after leaving recovery I'm speeding up my recovery. I've been walking 2+ miles a day since the day after the operation.

Hey, I had my sleeve on the 2nd aswell. I'm only 22. I was released from the hospital on the 5th. I've been home for about 3 days now. I'm feeling alright but It's very hard for me to get up and down into chairs, and my bed is just a misery to get into, but once I'm in I feel everything calm down tho I can only sleep till 4am. I don't feel like I'm doing well at all with liquids and the protien. I've purchased Isopure. I tolerated it the first day, after that I couldn't stand it. I don't know what to do really, I just cant get anywear close to a normal liquid intake.

I think just trying to get close to our goals is ok. Some of us can tolerate better than others.

I just got sleeved Monday 8/31/15 first two days were hell had to stay in the hospital until Wednesday evening the 2nd due to low potassium and constant vomiting. I'm a bit disappointed I've only lost 6 pounds and I'm on day 8 post op. Almost everyone has reported much more weight loss at this point.

Sleeved on the 3rd of Sept here. Doing great, started back at work today. Getting Protein & Water in has been a challenge. But I definitely have the "want to chew" thing going on. I feel like I'm hungry but still trying to decipher all the stuff going on in my belly. Weight is coming off so I'm not complaining! Congrats to all of us for making this decision..

I was sleeved this last week September 2nd. I feel a lot better this week. I was doing awesome since getting home from the hospital up until yesterday. I started getting cravings for anything and everything I know I shouldn't have and idk how to curve these cravings! I don't wanna mess up on my diet and I definitely don't want to risk a leak and I don't want to cheat around my diet. Any suggestions on recipes or foods/soups that you found helped you get through the liquid 2 weeks post op!!

Maybe try taking in a little more Protein lopez1628?? thankfully, I haven't had cravings...one friend on here said Greek plain yogurt and mix in a little sugar free strawberry cheesecake pudding powder...she says it's great! Once I can tolerate thicker substances, I'm going to try!! stay strong!

I was sleeved on sept 1! I on a clear liquid diet until I go to my follow up tomorrow. I went to the bathroom 4 days post op thankfully! Regularly since then. Protein intake is pretty much at a zero. Water intake is probably half of what it should be. I'm really fighting the cravings tho. I'm sure it's just head hunger as I don't think I really need anything to eat. I just want it. I'm not progressing as we'll as I had thought. I also walked as soon as I came out of recovery. I've had a couple dizzy spells and I'm just weak. I do something for a few mins then feel the need to sit down. I'm hoping it's because my intake is so low! Ready to move to the next stage in my diet so I hopefully get back to going at my normal pace.

That's ok because we all progress at a different speed! If you feel the need to sit...SIT girlie!! Don't push too hard. When I was at the hospital, my bowels were regular...actually more like explosive D. and then I got home and didn't go for a couple days...but it started back up! some movement is better than no movement! keep those fluids coming in! soon, we will move on to puree!

Water and Protein are both a challenge for me too. Protein is harder. We will get there and YOU GO GIRL! Back at work?! That's great!!!

So the last couple times that I've tried to get in my shake or some Soup I've started to feel nausea coming on. Took my medicine and it does go away. I've read a couple people have had this. How long do you think this will go on?? Cause it really makes it hard to get that Protein in for sure.

It will go away!! Takes some time, but I was like that too and didn't have meds for it so I slept through it. shakes are still VERY thick for me. Hopefully not too much longer! Hang in there! ❤

Oh and today...I was able to get 20g of Protein and about 45 oz of water/fluids. So it is getting easier!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
