Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Recommended Posts

October 5th at 10:30 am at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester NH. Insurance has already approved surgery. Lifestyle group was done months ago, I am on day 10 of this accused pre-operative diet, tomorrow I go for the final check. Essentially it's a 'we're going to weight you and make sure you lost more weight so we know you are following the diet" and to make sure nothing has changed.

Been through pre-admission at the hospital, wish me luck, this diet sucks. Not losing any weight, in spite of drinking 120+ oz of Water a day and walking 20K+ steps a day, I am plugged up tight.

@thbrown223- Thank you for your kind words and prayers! There is a good chance I will get denied and have to fight through an appeal. I'm not a traditional WLS scenario patient. I don't have co-mobidities but what I do have does impact my health- just not what insurance wants in regards to everything else. I have a 50/50 shot due to muscular skeletal issues and often time BCBS does really look at this!! My finger and toes are crossed! My paperwork gets submitted to Ins. next Wed or Thur!!

@@dancingqueene It was the same for me. I had no co morbidities and needed this surgery in preparation for a total hip replacement (which is also a condition that insurance does not look at or take into effect). I was denied twice but approved after my second appeal. I was literally told by my insurance company that any plan that has bariatric coverage will eventually approve you, they just want to see how willing you are to fight for it. It seems so wrong but hang in there and fihht. You can do this. DO NOT take no for an answer. Trust me I know how discouraging this can be. And that is what the insurance wants. They want you to get discouraged and either give up or pay out of pocket. Stick to your guns. Eventually they will say yes. Mine finally did and I have surgery in 9 days on October 8th!!! Best of luck to you and I will be praying for you! !!

@@covarrubia911 I'm having headaches too, I haven't been taking anything for them, trying to stay away from everything before surgery. I have been off caffeine & sugar long enough to not be the cause. Hopefully it will get better.

@@winklie I added you to our list of surgery's for October on page 20

@@dancingqueene Hope you get approved for surgery, I know it can be very frustrating!

@@covarrubia911 and @@60&goin4it, I've got the headaches too! Not awful, just annoying and constant. Maybe it's a detox headache from all of the wrong stuff we've been eating ...??? Who knows, I guess we'll just have to power through it! @@dancingqueene, I'm sending huge positive vibes your way for approval. DON'T GIVE UP.

This Friday, October 2, is my surgery date. Excited, and a little nervous because reading about what this journey may be like is quite different than experiencing it first-hand.

@@Deanah Welcome, I added you to our October surgery list.

October Surgery Family, I'm going to copy the list of dates for Surgery so we don't have to go back to page 20 to see who is having surgery. Anyone who isn't on this list that would like to be, or if info changes just let me know.

October is almost here & we will all be on our journey together to better health!!! We can do this!!!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
