Hang in there @@Jenaenae84! We all grieve in our own way.

I don't have any suggestions but I will share what I am doing about that for after surgery. I have been in that place so many times!! I will be progressing along fine and then BLAM I am eating too much. Or all of the sudden the scale isn't moving and I panic "What am I doing wrong? How am I F-ing this up? When I get to that place I don't have a clue how to get out and most of the time I can't even think I am so busy beating myself up. I don't know if this is going to help me or not but I have got to try something. So, on the first page in my spiral notebook, I have written down the following:

Basics

1. Eat only at table

2. Chew at least 30 times

3. Count to 60 between bites

4. 30/30 rule

5. Water

6. Protein

7. Exercise

8. Am I following my nutritionist's orders

9. Am I logging my food

After surgery I will adjust this list accordingly. My hope is that when I get to that space, and I will get there sometime, I can refer back to this list. Ask myself am I doing all these? If I am then steady as she goes and the weight will come off.

I hate nothing more than when the wheels come off the bus.

Right now @@Jenaenae84 you are practicing "maintenance mode" until your surgery. That is tough. Give your self some leeway. I know that is easy for me to say but it is a thought. When some people get to maintenance they say ok I am 183 and they told me not to go below that. I will give myself hmmm let's say 10 pounds. Then they will experiment. When they get above the 183-193 zone they ask how many calories am I currently eating? Let's lower that or increase the exercise or both and see what it takes to start losing again. Then they fine tune this. Dub on here has talked about his own experiments with that.

Thanks I have not been tracking my food like I had done before so I think that's what I'm going to have to do to get back to where I was. Thanks :) I'll put in place everything else also some I already do but need to be more mindful of it I guess.

I know the feeling. I think we all go threw that Iv been on a strict protien shake and one small meal a day for 6 months and at my last appt they told me to not lose anymore and we'll iv been eating all the foods I won't be eating again or at least for a very long time. I'm getting back on track because I know I need my mind doing in the right place. I know this is just the beginning and now before sugery is the easy part the hard part is after surgery. Using this tool to help me keep my weight off and lose more. It's so close seems like iv been waiting for ever and now it's actually hitting me and the nervous are kicking in lol.

@kimvox66...how is preop going?

HI edie! I start liquid pre-op on Friday. I'm quite frankly all over the map about everything. Some days I feel REALLY confident that tI can do this no problem and some days I'm thinking "oh s**t, I can't do this". I'm paranoid about EVERYTHING, from being hungry all the time pre-op to not getting enough fluids/protein post-op. GAH! Anyone else feel like that? One day, excited to get this going and the next dreading it?

I feel EXACTLY the same way. I could not have described it any better. I have talked myself in and out of this surgery I know hundreds of times. I just can't imagine what pulling up to that hosp the morning of surgery is going to feel like. My heart starts pounding, I break out in a sweat and that little negative Nancy in the back of my head starts saying, you can't do this, you're going to be miserable. Then I try to put on clothes that look decent and I hear that voice, you fat ass, you can't look good in anything, you need to be in that operating room on that table right this min, I can't wait to actually slide on a pair of jeans and boots and actually look good in them. This is a constant conversation going on in my head. One thing is for sure, if I won't crazy before this journey, there's a good chance I will be afterwards. Lol

I'm going in the circles myself. Yesterday and today so bad I can barely get myself out of bed. I just feel overwhelmed about trying to get my body mind and soul ready. Having a lot of trouble getting myself to exercise. Partly because I'm not used to it, partly because my knees and back are so bad I'm in awful pain all the time, and partly because atmy meeting with the physical therapist he cautioned me to keep pressure off my knees and lower back. As in, don't walk too much and walking is my favorite exercise. If you are all going thru this frustration as well, I wonder if you can tell me how to push through. I'm doing ok on diet they have me on. Lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I can't gain any or insurance denies the surgery. But I'm freaking out all the time second guessing myself or wondering if I'm doing enough.

Well shopping today helped. I am after all the biggest shop-a-holic in the world. I purchased things I read on the forums that were said to be helpful, i.e. gas x strips, mouth moistener spray, firming lotion, chapstick and a really soft nightgown, robe and socks for the hospital! My greatest fear so far is all the needles that will be coming with this surgery. I am a hard stick and am terrified of the process. One of our clients is head of the children's hospital and suggested LMX cream for me to use to numb the areas. He said they use it all the time on children and it really helps. He said to use Tegaderm Patches to cover it. Just thought I would throw that out there if anyone shares my fears!

I'm a hard stick but used to needles so not that big a deal. But I am wondering what kind of firming lotion you got. I think I have bought everything I need for a long time and then I'm excited when there is one more thing. Lol

Do you have your date yet? Sounds like you are ready. Sorry you have a problem with the needles. I bet the numbing stuff will help a lot!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
