I'm still working to increase my Fluid intake up to the 64oz the nutritionist wants but it's tough. I've tried a few bites of food but it hurts and I've felt so sick afterwards that I really have no desire for it right now. I know I'll need to eventually get something in, especially once I start working out but right now I'm feeling a little down and tired still.

I am still struggling with fluids too. Warm fluids and popsicles go down easiest. I graduated to soft foods, but its a very slow process.

Well my identity is now confirmed. I am now a september sleever due to have his operation in November. The 19th to be precise. 50 days after i was originally supposed to be operated on.

Still it's all good news. How is everyone here recovering? I'd like to say i'm jealous and in some ways i am but had i been sleeved two weeks ago i'd have not been able to go surfing yesterday.

In other news weightloss to date is 50lbs. I am delighted with this. Although i think i am weighing myself too often and am gonna put the scales in a mates house so i'm not hopping on the blessed thing every other half hour.

So that's the news for now.

See you in the next update.

Your September sleever having his op in November.

Hello Desmond. Thats great news that your surgery is re-scheduled. I hope it is a go for you this time. I had my surgery on September 24. I am doing great! Down 32 pounds. I have had no problems at all to date. I took one week off work after surgery but didn't need to.I am having no trouble getting Water in or protein. As far as hunger, I do not feel any but I do 5 or 6 mini meals each day. That being said it is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and when I saw some of the items being served up. My head hunger thought it would be nice to taste..but I am happy to say I walked away! Great job Rileysmom22 on your weight loss!????

Hi Des, That is wonderful news! Wow, 50lbs! Without being sleeved is amazing! Congratulations! Your new surgery date is the day after my birthday, it will be awesome, can't wait! ;)

This is my 4th wk post op things are good, I have don't had any of the issues I've read about (Thank God), vomiting, white foam, etc. I have no complaints. I haven't lost much in the last week, but I have lost a lot of inches. I'm actually wearing size 14 pants, wow! That's 2 1/2 size smaller than when I first started. :D

Way to go on your weight loss ladies!

I went back to work this week and I am doing well. I am getting in iver 60 oz of Water and 60-80 g of Protein every day at this point. I go for my follow up with my surgeon 10/15 and can't wait to move on to pureed foods. He actually suggest that we chew the food to the puree. Any who, I am excited to move on.

I have already incorporated low fat cottage cheese into my diet this week. I chew it really well and think it is s healthier option for me calorie and protein wise over yogurt. I can't find yogurt that I like without all the extras that I don't need and I love the cottage cheese plain.

What's on your plates? ( or cups?)

Hi mykdzmom. Glad to hear you are doing well! Great news.

I am on pureed/soft foods.protein intake between 40 and 50 grams per day. So far I am tolerating everything very well.:)

I eat canned chicken, turkey or salmon. 2 ounces per meal.Hard boiled eggs 1 per meal. Low fat cottage cheese 2 ounces per sitting. Strained cream Soups with unflavored Protein Powder 2 ounces per meal. I also have Premier Protein rtd shakes. I add a couple of teaspoons of pureed beets or carrots to each of my meals too.I am getting in between 50 and 69 ounces of Water each day too.And of course my vitamins! Keep up the good work!

Oh and I just discovered light babybel cheese. Only 50 calories and 6 grams of protein!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
