Hi, I was sleeved on Monday August 24th. I have to say, I feel so much better than I thought I would. Getting fluids in is a chore, but I sip all day long. I don't know if I lost any weight, but when I put my bra on this morning, it seemed a little easier to put on. I'm not hungry, but when I see food commercials, I feel like I'm missing an old friend. Anyone else experience this?

Luckily for me most of the food commercials make me nauseas. But I am definitely craving veggies big time.

I felt that way to.. To the point where my mouth was watering a couple of times it comes with head hunger. That's been the hardest for me so far .. It has made me realize how much food has really played a vital role in my life. I'm 2 weeks post op .. I've had good a bad days due to commercials .. Lol

i was sleeved Monday too! I actually have zero desire for food at this point which is scary. I am however super thirsty all the time. I slipped up a minute ago and chugged a Little bit of Water, but apparently not enough for any pain - thankfully. Did that in the hospital and thought I killed my self.

Monday for me 2...no desire to eat but I know I have to get 76 grams in so I force myself. I am doing the 3.2oz 42 gram Protein Shots to get it in with less. A shake midday and strained Soup for dinner...I'm OK with that for now.

I was sleeved Monday.. finding very had to get protein.. I made scramble egg lunch time and I had less than a bird would eat and the pain I suffered was quite bad. dinner time I tried potato and tiny amount of minced beef. I experienced same pain.. I guess it's inflammation. I am going to do Protein Drinks tomorrow.. ????

I'm surprised you're on solids already! My doc has me on full liquids til the 4th.

Solids already? I know every doctor is different, but nothing I read advised solids in the first week. My f/u is Monday, and I'll be able to move onto runny oatmeal and grits. Check with your doctor to be sure you are not moving too fast.

I was banded Tuesday and there are no solids in my plan until week four. I'm having trouble with gummy vitamins and Water so I'knit surprised meat eggs and potatoes hurt.

I am 11 days post op and still on fluids/protein shakes.

I will start on mushy foods next week (and for 2 weeks) before solid foods.

One week out seems crazy!

I was sleeved on mon the 24th. I did Clear Liquids tue and wed. Full liquids day 3 to 7. I have had some cravings for real food then take a bite of anything or drink and craving goes straight away. Had a couple dreams of eating and worring that I ate too much of thw wrong thing!-lol I'm doing pretty good getting Protein in. I've added extra sugarfree flavoring to premade Premier Protein shakes that have 30 grams protein each. Definately hard to not drink fast when you feel thirsty. Probably tmi subject but I think belly pain feel a lot better if things started moving! Any thoughts on that?

I'd say plenty of Water to get things moving. Maybe a lil 100% prune juice. You don't want to take anything more than that and it have you straining and your stomach having spasms trying to push. Could get quite painful.

I would agree taking something must be a mistake. I was sleeved the day after you and have not had a "normal" BM. I was considering taking something but then yesterday began the, excuse the graphic-mess, Water poop. If I had taken something I would be afraid to leave the bathroom cause I don't think I could control it. Now that it happened I remember the same thing happening when I got my band.

I agree with the previous advice. Get plenty of Water and once I am allowed protein I was planning on adding Fiber supplement to my shakes.

Feel better!!

haleyk, I know what you mean. I hate that feeling that whatever I sipped is just sitting there, then the strange sensation of it finally passing through. I don't complain though. Once I recover, their is a whole new life waiting for me in the other side. This discomfort is totally worth it!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
