Can I pay the hospital in payments?

I had my consultation today. And my next $225 consultation is next Monday. I called BCBS today and they said they cover 50%. Do I have to pay the rest before the surgery or can I make payments? Does anyone have experience with this?

I would think it would depend on the hospital. My hospital requires all elective procedures be paid in full before time of service. But I have seen others that will allow a percentage to be paid and then make payment arrangements... You can call the financial coordinator for the hospital and they should be able to tell you. Best of luck!!

Doctors can often accept payments. However, the hospital itself will pretty much always require payment in full before ANY services are rendered. Sorry!

In my experience hospitals bill you after its submitted to the insurance and the insurance pays their portion. I've never had to prepay for services/surgery before. Check with the hospital but I'd be shocked if they make you pay in full prior to the procedure.

Well, you guys have convinced me. I'm going to the insurance meeting and paying the $225. Hopefully things work out!
