  1. I was sleeved 10/12 and I still struggle with this. I must remember to take my antacid every day or the acid reflux gets so bad I can't sleep and end up with it coming back up on me. If the dr has not prescribed you some I recommend taking this. It's been a necessity for me!! I also recommend logging your meals, I use MFP and this has been helpful for me to see where I need improvement and what foods are higher in protein for me. Good luck on your journey and congratulations! Despite the minor issues, I am still so very glad I had this done!!
  2. You look great!! I am also 2 months out and know how great it is to shed those lbs:) congratulations and keep up the great work!

How much did you lose ?

I am sure it depends on what type of liquid diet and for how long. Some were allowed a light meal at night and others it was strictly protein drinks. I had a two week pre op liquid diet and it was Awful! Lost about 10 lbs on it though. I had a few mess ups the first week where I felt I would starve to death and ate veggies to hold me over. You will get through this time and after the surgery you won't even remember how empty your stomach feels.. Sounds horrible but This definitely prepares your body for surgery. Good luck through everything!

    ANY TEXAS SLEEVERS?

I am doing well! Still getting used to everything, working out my Protein and Fluid intake to get that increased. I am 6 weeks post op and have lost about 32 lbs. week one and two was liquid only diet. Week three was puréed and I have been on solids for a few weeks now. I also have not introduced carbs back since surgery and currently I am trying to focus more on protein and fluid.

    Heartburn

My doc prescribed an acid reducer for me to take when I was discharged from the hospital, basically a form of Prilosec. He explained that Prilosec prevents the acid from building up as well as remedies the acid reflux when I may forget to take it. I will be honest.. It still doesn't completely take it away but gosh if I don't take it, it is unbearable. It also prevents the amount I can take in.. If the acid is high in my stomach I can usually fill too quickly and then end up vomiting after meals. I am 6 weeks out currently so it is trial and error at this point.. Good luck and hope you get some relief soon!
  9. 6 weeks post op... Slightly bummed that I could not eat the delicious yeast rolls or pig out on moms stuffing... But I am okay. Managed 1 bite of casserole and a tiny bit of turkey.. Stuffed. In my throat stuffed. How awkward was it to be sitting at the dinner table and everyone stops to stare when mom asks "your full already!?!" Bleh.. Lol This is my first year sleeved thanksgiving and it was without a doubt.. The strangest????

    Struggling but determined!

Thank you guys for the advice! I will definitely use your suggestions:) as far as the throwing up goes, it's not all the time and only occurs maybe a few times a week.. Really seems to occur on those days I did not take the acid reducer. And partly because I have not mastered the "full" feeling yet until I am stuffed and sick.. I am getting there.. Slowly but surely!
  12. Hey guys! Been super busy the last few weeks and so I wanted to share what's been going on lately. First of all, my stats: HW - 234 surgery weight was 225 and as of Monday (6wk) was 202.8! So far the loss is going good. The bad news ... Not getting enough fluids, and definitely not getting enough protein:( I log all of my intake on MFP and I really get discouraged when I see my nutrition at the end of the day and I barely hit 30 grams of protein or barely get through 20 ounces of water a day. I average about 500 calories a day as well. Cramps are happening more frequent, dehydration and really dry skin, I have lost quite a bit of muscle mass and get pretty tired just brushing my hair in the mornings. (Which is starting to thin) Basically guys.. Don't be like me! I really have got to get on a schedule with my eating and drinking. I manage a huge department for 4 of our regional hospitals and I stay BUSY in meetings most of my day. I forget to eat! Also doesn't help that I fill up after two tablespoons still. I kinda hoped I would have gotten up to at least half a cup or something! It's so hard to get adequate nutrition in when I can't hold a lot. I also get sick after most meals and end up throwing up some mucus/acidic stomach acid that I am sure is the reason I have heartburn 90% of the day. Also my fault, as I forget to take my acid blocker and manage to only get it down a few times a week. Vitamins make me nauseous so I don't take them like I should either... Let me just say that for those about to go into this journey... You had better really have the right mindset. Not at all like I have had! Plan and organize.. And set goals. None of which I did but starting this week it is my top priority!! I did find some turkey sticks at the grocery deli and I am on the lookout for protein I can sprinkle over my food. Gotta get in that protein!!! I had stopped drinking the protein shakes weeks ago but I am going to start taking those for breakfast again as well. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I cannot believe I let myself get so off track in just a few weeks but I am determined to get myself together!! Thanks for all of the support!! And happy turkey day!!! (Gonna try and eat the whole thing????)lol!
  13. I had a two week pre op liquid diet and struggled so bad. You will read and get responses from others who ask if you really want this or to try harder but it really did not help. Only made me feel worse. I talked to my doctor about it and while i mostly stuck to the diet only slipping a few times, I still slipped. with veggies so I would not completely set myself back. Doc was okay with this. The three days before surgery in completely stuck it out and once the surgery happened it was a piece of cake!! Without the cake! No hunger pains and no problem at all with sticking to the two week post op liquid diet. I have not regretted my decision and I have really been awesome sticking to everything now. You will do it! My advice is talk to your doc and see if he will allow veggies as a "cheat" meal. Like he told me, if you had it all under control then you wouldn't need the surgery!! Good luck!!

    October 12th surgery

I did not really have gas pains.. I did have gas buildup that caused me to burp quite a bit but found that taking the gas X helped a lot! Pain was never an issue with me though.
  15. It's getting close! Anyone else scheduled on the 12th? I stated my liquid diet.. So far it's horrible:) nothing but liquids - has to be 15 grams of protein and less than 6 grams of sugar in the shake.. This doesn't leave a lot of choices so I have stuck to the same two shakes all week, it's getting boring and all I can think about is food:( bleh! Anyone else going through the liquid phase?

    October 12th surgery

Two weeks post op guys!! How is everyone doing? Anyone moving on to soft/puréed food this week? How much have you lost?!? Update for me: doc appt in the 29th and then I will be moving to soft food. I cannot wait!!! To be truthful though I have tried mashed potato and cinnamon raisin granola baby food already. Tolerated both great. But a teaspoon was all I let myself have. Wasn't really hungry but I think it was just curiosity to see how I would do on it.... So far I have lost 20 lbs as of today!! Super excited about that. Coworkers are raving how they can tell in my neck, legs and upper tummy. I still have a tire around my lower abdomen... Still have not went down a size in clothes.. I know it is that mommy bump that doesn't want to shrink!!! But I am still very happy so far!

    October 12th surgery

(Warning TMI)Has anyone else experienced the constipation?!? I was doing great! Very minimal pain, able to move and resume light activity. Until this afternoon, I went to the restroom and I am telling you it was 1 1/2 hours of earth shattering pain! Worst feeling ever!! It was so hard and so large that I could not pass it. An enema and a lot of screaming later it finally passed some.. I had hubby run to Walgreens and pick up miralax to take. Gosh I hope the worst is behind me!!! So if this hasn't happened yet.. I recommend taking miralax now!!!
  24. Good morning friends! Today is finally the day!!! Could not sleep last night and woke about 5am. The hospital pre op had given me a scrub stat bottle to use the morning of the surgery to decrease infection risk. Took my scrub stat shower and woke the family up. Kids are all off to grandparents and my husband, mom and I are on the road to the hospital! Nervous and super anxious!! Oh the anxiety is raging!! Will keep you all posted along the way!

    Surgery day!

How is everyone doing so far!?! Two days since surgery and it is getting easier. Haven't had pain meds since the evening of the surgery so I am surprised by the minimal pain. Little tiredness and gassy but that's normal. Adjustment has been pretty easy!
