Liquid diet two weeks before

Recommended Posts

So I'm 2 days into my liquid diet and I have diabetes and acid reflux and I have had a really hard time, I've been feeling nauseous and sick half through the day so I've been cheating and ate cheese yesterday and I felt better. Today I was like no I'm not going to mess up, well I was totally fine, hungry as hell but fine then I got really tired and nauseous so I ate again and I felt better, so I ate dinner and I totally felt 100% better, so what I'm getting at us I don't know what to do has anyone else gone though this?

Just a guess, is your blood sugar too low? I have diabetes also, and was told to stop one of my medicines which would cause me to have a blood sugar problem. I did, and my blood sugar was pretty normal during the whole two weeks.

If your blood sugars are too low I would I would call my doctor if I were you. Good luck.

Also if you are getting nauseous that may be dehydration. Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids along with the Protein shakes.

I was a diabetic, type 2 and as long as I stayed on top of my shakes, broth and Water that feeling passed.

I checked my blood sugar 4 times per day to make sure it did not get wonky on me.

I felt much better after day 3 but I did not eat anything I wasn't supposed to.

I would call your doctor with your readings and ask what to do if your sugars are going low. If they aren't then follow the plan, and stay hydrated. That feeling should go away.

Are you also breaking other habits like soda and coffee at the same time? If you are that could be making things rougher for you.

I would be very careful about eating anything you are not supposed to it could lead to an open surgery and you definitely do not want that. Your liver needs to shrink to have a successful laparoscopic surgery.

Good luck!

I think my blood sugar is to low, my doctor told I didn't need to check (before diet) so I've never really check my numbers but I think I'm going to start. I left a message for my doctor to call me I have questions. He did really tell me that of what I need to do for this diet. Thank you guys

I honestly believe that if you can make it through a few days there discomfort will stop. what kind of shakes are you drinking?? I had a few rough days, and then I totally fell into a rhythm. I felt better and lost weight like crazy before the surgery. I was drinking Premier Protein shakes. I still drink them from time to time. I was on the liquid diet for six weeks, because I did not lose enough leading up to that point. I think the trick for me was to not think about it too much. And if you feel you need to eat, try just having an extra shake. You really want to lose as much weight before the surgery as possible. It will help to shrink your liver and your surgery will go better the more you shrink your liver. hang in there. It will be worth it.

I believe she made it through her two week period......one way or another.

I do like your advice, though. Protien shakes it is for me......from this point in.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
