Surgery set for 16th October

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Jenny and I'm 30 years old. I've struggled with my weight since I was diagnosed with pcos at 15 years old. In the last couple of years it has gotten out of hand. I am currently the heaviest I've ever been which is both scary and disappointing. After months of Internet research and many failed attempts of diet and exercise I decided things really needed to change and I definitely needed to take my life back! My surgery date is set for 16th October. If anyone has similar dates I am interested in having a support buddy who is going to be going through or has been through the same journey.

Hi Jenny! My name is Lara. I am 47 years old. I am tired of yoyo-ing up and down with my weight. I am ready to find the real me. I especially want to feel better. The closer I get to 50, the worse I feel and the heavier I get after each significant loss/regain. My date for surgery is the 15th of October. We are only 5 weeks away from a new beginning!! =)

Hi Lara,

I can't believe it's only 5 weeks away although it seems to be going a little slower than I like. Are you excited/nervous/scared?? I'm just excited at the moment but I believe that may change the closer I get. Do you have to do a pre op diet??

I am very excited and just a little nervous. And yes, I have to do a 10-day liquid diet--ugh. Although I know it will be hard, I still want to do it. I've been trying to prepare in advance by drinking some Protein Shakes, not drinking with my meals (which has been the hardest for me), and starting my Vitamins. What about you? Pre op diet?

Yes I also have to go on a preop liquid diet for 2 weeks. And I've also tried to prepare myself by having Meal Replacement shakes for Breakfast and lunch, it's been very hard and I've felt like I'm starving by dinner time so it's not going very well. So I have no idea how going to get through the 2 weeks. I guess I'll have to discuss strategies with the dietitian. Where are you from?

I'm in Cherryville. We aren't too far apart! I shop sometimes at Concord Mills. Have you had surgery or are you waiting on your day? I'm so ready!

I've struggled since the birth of my adult children. Have you had your pre op appointment yet? Pre surgery liquid diet? I'm dreading those 10 days!!

Hi everyone!

my date is (tentatively) set for 14 October. I am really excited to get this band out and get the sleeve. I lost 85 lbs on the band but regained 35 when they had to unfill it due to severe complications. This has been a two-year fight to get this revision, and I am just a nutritionist visit, sleep study, and stress test away from surgery! Of course, I had to schedule ALL of that in the same week because I am READY! Then, it's two weeks of lovely Protein shakes until I change my life forever.

This journey is going to be awesome. I can't wait to get started.
Heather

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
