Not buying clothes that always have flowers on them or are gathered across the bust line.

Having my heart shaped face back.

Being able to wipe without contorting my body or breaking the toilet seat.<--------- Ummmmm Yeah....THAT!

Flying

Sitting in a chair without wondering if I will end up on the floor.

Thinking I will fit through somewhere only to knock everything over or getting stuck.

Getting on a crowded elevator without someone getting off.

To get on the floor with my grandchildren and not having to crawl to a piece of furniture and take 5 minutes to get up.

Hiking; walking the dogs without my back being on fire in 5 minutes and my legs going numb; going back to Universal and enjoying myself; learning to scuba dive; fitting back into the way cool burgundy, paisley design, smoking jacket I've held on to for over twenty years!

I busted out laughing when I read about the flowers...it's true why do they think fat chic needs flower????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Oh so many things...

- being able to get the attention of guys I think are cute without feeling self conscious they'll be weirded out by my weight.

- Not having to contort myself in order to get a good picture where I don't look as big.

- Being able to shop in all those teens and twenty-something clothing shops like American Eagle without troubles.

- Having my thighs not touch!!!

- Not having to eat huge portions of food in order to just simply feel full because my stomach is stretched.

- Not -despising- exercise because my body is so out of shape.

- WATERSKIING! - I tried it once but I was too out of shape to pull myself up. So I want to be able to do it!

- Being able to show my dog without feeling awkward and uncomfortable on my knees when stacking her into a show position. (Or anything ELSE I have to do kneeling).

And so many many more..

Oh you'll have TONS of fun! I've been ziplining a few times at camp. It wasn't as extravagant as the ones you find on vacation but.. Wow. It's SUCH fun! :D

Not worrying about breaking things when I sit on them... shopping... seeing collar bones!

Amusement parks, hiking, owning more than one pair of jeans, cute shoes, jewelry that fits!

Shopping in regular stores is certainly at the top of the list. I also really don't like looking at my face anymore because all I see is "fat face". Waaaaay too many chins. I am a nurse and I feel like coworkers, doctors and patients are judging me all of the time. We all deal with our demons in different ways. I just want to feel better. Inside and out.

How about just standing up without bringing the toilet seat with you because in the few short moments you sat on it, it tried to become a part of you!

My sister is getting married in May and my surgery is September 10th. She is so excited about me having the surgery and going shopping with me for something for her wedding.

Also, when we go to my family's beach house there are a lot of steps going down the cliff to the beach and the last time I went down I almost didn't make it back up. I have a 13 year old daughter who always wants me to go with her but I make excuses. So I am seriously excited about being able to enjoy the beach with her again.

What a great thread!

@ Kate_UK Scuba diving is on my goal/rewards list post op

@ Bloomer723 I am with you on pictures... yeah I would like to be in some and not have a photo block

@ magical woman - yep, everything you said...lol I hate the floral shirts and general "tent" shirts as I call them

Simple as it may seem -

Paint my toenails

Stop the boob sweat

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
