I have been asked whether I am pregnant at least 20 times!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I'm writing this to get something off my chest. I am going to have my gastric sleeve surgery done in two days in New Jersey.

I chose this topic because it is one that I have had the displeasure of dealing with for the past few years. I gain weight around my belly and I must seem to look pregnant to people. It may seem trivial but I really really really look forward to the day where I no longer look pregnant and people stop asking me whether I'm pregnant. They have asked me at work, at stores, at funerals, at nightclubs! Even children have asked me why I'm so fat and whether I'm having a baby. It is so overbearing at times❗️❗️❗️two people have rubbed my stomach and congratulated me. It is so frustrating!

Thank you all for listening and feel free to comment.

I'm pre op, haven't had surgery yet. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I've been asked before too by children. Some people just don't have any common sense not to ask people that question unless they know for sure. I cannot believe people rub a person's belly, pregnant or not. What an invasion of personal space. If anyone does that to me, I'm going to rub their belly back. How awkward.

When I was pregnant, I got tired of intrusive people. When someone (particularly a stranger) asked when I was due, I would say, a little loudly, "I'M NOT PREGNANT, I'M FAT!"

Yah, I can be a pain sometimes.

I too am pre-op, I once had a dementia patient rub my belly and ask when the twins are due. I couldn't really get angry with her considering she had dementia

Yes I have that happen all the time. Even before kids I was asked that so I can't wait to get my sleeve....I would say even when I would lose weight I still had somewhat of a belly so I hear your frustration.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
