December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

On Monday I got an appointment to see my PCP on Saturday to get the medical clearance and medically necessary and another blood workup. I showed up and it turns out a staff member told me wrong the PCP was not there nor was he scheduled to be there. So I didn't get anything none as the other Dr and I have never met. So now I am rescheduled for Thursday. There seems to be a lot of roadblock in my journey to get this sleeve surgery. I was hoping to get a date before the holiday so I could enjoy it stress free.

How is it that some people have gotten surgery dates yet haven't been approved yet. I don't understand that. I have to be approved first then get my surgery date. My WL surgeons submitted my forms on Nov 23 but the PCP has yet to give me the clearance. So here I sit anxiously awaiting clearance, approval and a date.

I requested mine so I could get it done on this year's deductible so I don't have to pay much.

I am in the 6 month education series and you get to know everyone in the office really well! The nutritionist, the program coordinator, the therapist I also requested first surgery of the day to go home earlier the next day.

I'm not sure why my surgeon "pencil ins" my surgery prior to approval. It's actually driving me crazy. My mind is set on Jan 4th, my pre-op apt with my pcp is set, my pre-op liquid diet is to begin Dec 21, my pre surgery blood work is ordered and I'm still not approved. Ugh..

Your not alone, mine will not schedule till you get insurance approval. I wish they could have because now I have to wait till January 13th although I met my deductible and it would have been cheaper for me to have it this year.

Hello Aussie girl here... I am booked for the 9th February.. I am a bit worried.. I have a very good surgeon recommended by my encrinologist. Did anyone go for the psych evaluation? My therapist told me to avoid being with my parents over Christmas because they are food obsessed... I am very conflicted on what to do... What do I tell them? You can't come because you both are obsessed with food? Its a bit Bah humbug doesn't it?

I am not having any Christmas festivities. I know myself and I would blow it. I am not getting together with any family and am not going out during my liquid week. Make it up next year!

I got a therapist just to help me handle this better. Do what is best for your recovery! !!

Stomach bug is a reason that works every time!

Hello everyone.

I joined the site back in June after my initial orientation meeting and surgical consult, and have been lurking here for the past 6 months. My preapproval process went smoothly - I began meeting with my PCP monthly in July to track my weight and exercise progress, after 90 days of that the Insurance company approved me without a hiccup, and with the medical pre-op testing done I have a surgery date staring me in the face.

Tomorrow is my half-day pre-op dietician meeting up in Indy, and I expect to begin the 2-week liquid diet on Wednesday, with surgery happening on 12/30. In my specific case, I've already been told to expect to stay two nights rather than the typical one night. I am in great shape physically (except for the obesity, of course), but I developed at DVT back in 2011.... so, with that history they want to keep me an extra 24 hours before releasing me to head home.

From my perspective, the entire journey I'm about to embark upon is being done to allow me to live a longer, healthier life. I've been fighting with weight issues my entire adult life, with the past five years having been spent actively working with my PCP to find a solution. But without much success, all I've managed to do is become five years older - five years closer to my grave. And with me past 50 now, looking around, I am having a difficult time finding any REALLY old, REALLY fat guys. Since I can't stop aging, the bottom line is fairly obvious. If I want to continue enjoying life, I need to be smaller.

I don't really have any questions to ask anyone - I've been approaching this procedure with my eyes open and have been doing a lot of research on my own. I *do* recognize that as a man I'm in a fairly significant minority here, but that's not really an obstacle.

-Ken

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
