11 more days left of only Slim Fast and Crystal Light. Did anyone else have to drink these items only for their Pre-op?

Hello all - new to the forum. I'm scheduled for VSG January 20. I'm waiting for insurance approval and begin my LSD in 10 days as the surgeon wants that 30 days preop. I'm quite nervous and really have to talk to myself to remain calm and ensure myself this was the right decision. From other boards, I see this is pretty normal. I've passed all preoperative tests and had gallbladder removed almost 4 weeks ago. Preoperative education class is January 6. I'm excited for the results, but I'm also so afraid that this won't be as successful as I hope, especially since I've not lost that much during the last 5 months.

My surgeon has his patients attend a final class so everyone understands what they need to do, what they'll be eating pre and post-op, how to prepare meals, what to expect, complication symptoms and perhaps to teach us a secret handshake.

There has to be a secret handshake, right?

I attend mine next Thursday and am super excited. After this the only thing I need to do is the endoscope and blood work-up (Jan 13).

I am due to have surgery Jan 4th... Due to start pre-op a week from Monday and I'm still not approved or denied. I've called my insurance they don't have anything yet. I call my dr and they say I have nothing to worry about. My dr requires the pre-op diet to be one of 2 choices. Both of which cost $140 for the 2 weeks. I would really like to know for sure before I order the stuff.. so I guess there's no question, just venting...ugh

I start my liquid diet 7 days before my 12/28 surgery. No Christmas this year!

I have a large list of what I can have but my mind is really messing with me on liquid only. Anyone have suggestions? We get 5 shakes a day and about 12 kinds to choose from. We then can have an additional 64 Oz a day of Soups and juice. The list of approved foods has all the guidelines on what to buy and the calorie count we should look for. I am stocking up. I plan to stay home and stay in my room!!

The classes my insurance required were great. I feel very knowledgeable on how to eat after. I sure hope I get approved next week. I hAve everything else done.

I'm 1 day post op. Surgery took place last night. My surgery was easy and straight forward, sleeve took 30 mins from rolling back to OR to when doc came and told my friend I was heading to recovery.

I woke up from anethesia very very sick. I vomited a few times. And was shocked by the pain.

Just a couple hours later I had figured out the morphene drip and was up and moving. I had many nurses who were really shocked by my willpower. One even said I looked like a visitor, not someone who just had surgery. I was released this morning at 10am, just 16 hours from when I had my surgery. I feel great. Went and got my meds filled and picked up some yogurt and Soup. I am glad I had such a great recovery... That's one thing I was worried about.

I'll be getting sleeved 1/13/16 - I'm so nervous! I can't believe I'm actually gonna do it. I'm ready for the results but I just pray the surgery/recovery goes smoothly.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
