I am almost 2 months post op and I knew I was going to have trouble with this too, severe dry mouth and some foods just make it worse honestly...even now I still sip some through my meals and I have had no "dumping" problems at all....I stay on the side of Constipation (mainly due to meds) even taking a stool softener 2x a day and Miralax when needed. Is this good of me, maybe maybe not, but I do what I can and have had a good amount of weightloss.....just started hitting a plateau some...just need to get in more excersize (hard with degenerative back problems, but working on it ) :)

I'm 3 weeks out and I find it really hard to get thru a meal without a couple sips. I've not had any dumping and I'm getting in all my Protein.

This has been very challenging for me too. I use down a bottle of Water in less than 30 seconds. Now one week post op thirst is a big issue. I have a new love affair with Popsicles, they are my friend. I do worry that as I transition to a full solid diet that this 30 Minute Rule is going to be my biggest obstacle to conquer.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
