July 6th 2015 (or close) sleevers...how are we doing?

Recommended Posts

I'm still very sore from the hernia repair and at the incision sites. My shoulders, neck, and upper back are also sore for some reason though it's not as bad as it was a couple days ago. I'm having no trouble getting liquids down and haven't had anything come back up... Though I have to get back on my anxiety meds (a capsule) and I'm nervous about swallowing that down. Gas pain is better though still an issue. Walking to try and break it up. How are the rest of you doing?

Sleeved 7/6 as well. So glad to get home The day after. Suffered from some reflux and then remembered I was supposed to take a med for that. Better now. I have not had bad gas pains at all...in stead just a hard tummy. I am swallowing gasp pills just fine. Poo is runny. Getting fluids in fine and met my Protein goal each day. My energy is WAY down but that is expected. I am still walking like a 90 year old and afraid to cough, burp, etc because it hurts. sleeping at an angle to help with reflux but might try to sleep on side tonight. I am afraid of a leak I am too careful with. Y movements I think....idk. Are you able to stretch your stomach? Glad to heat all went well for you!

I've been sleeping in a recliner. I'm walking like an old lady too... Usually with a pillow to help hold everything down. I haven't pooped.. Which is kind of freaking me out but my dr has me on Water, sf liquids, and broth... That's it. I'm not adding Protein in for a while yet. It's a lot different from some of the other diets I've read about on here but I am trusting him and his team.

Had my surgery on the 7th. I have been sleeping in a recliner too! And over the last two days walking like an old woman, trying to remember to stand up and not let the "stitch" keep me stooped. The first day I had problems with not pacing myself on liquids and would go from fine to burping and coughing in one sip!

I have been sipping Isopure, but have only been able to get in about 20 grams of Protein in my 2 days since coming home from the hospital. Other than minor pains here and there, doing pretty well.

I am getting in about 55 grams of Protein a day from Protein shakes and or powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein broth with out any problem. I am still very low on energy. Got out for the first time last night And ended up in the car with my husband finishing the Shopping... Very dizzy and a little nauseous. Slept on both sides and flat on my back for first time last night! So glad! I am having a very hard time with the Vitamins my dr sold me.... Makes me nauseous every time. I will be looking for a substitute! Check up on Monday :)

Glad everyone seems to be doing well! Anxious to have energy back and feeling up to doing more!!!

Miralax (30cc'S) is what I was supposed to take if I couldn't poo. Hope all is doing better now!

I get random grumbles in my stomach that I think might be hunger?? But I'm not really sure to be honest! I know that sounds crazy... Everything is all weird in there right now with gas bubbling around that I'm not sure what feelings are what.

I am experiencing crazy amounts of dizziness... Morning and then again at night. Keeping me from being able to get ready to go to church this morning so I am staying home. Woke up nauseous around midnight- out of nowhere.... Very frustrated. How long is it supposed to take to feel normal again??

Each day I feel a little better and stronger. Today I did a 30 minutes walk came in had a mini meal and went grocery shopping. I'm tired now for Sure but I don't think I could have done this yesterday. Yesterday was my first time getting in some real calories which is why I Think I feel so much better today. The body needs fuel to keep going.

Sleeved on 7/8. Each day is better. Just sore. Had small hiatal hernia repair as well. Still on Water. Gonna try Protein Shake today. Not hungry, but smell of food depending on what it is can make me want it or run from the smell. I still feel the water traveling all the way down my esophagus and hit my stomach which I am told will pass. I am excited to be where I am and no real issues. Glad to here everyone is doing well also.

@ - glad to hear that you are recovering without any issues. I was sleeved on the 8th as well. Each day gets better and better. I'm still on Clear liquids and I am able to get my liquids down without any issues. I haven't had any issues with nausea; however, right now I can't stand the smell of cooked eggs!

I'm finding that the more I walk the better I feel. Right now I only need to take pain meds at night. Hopefully tonight I can go to bed without taking them.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
