I'm not getting sleeved anymore I had to change things around because lately I've been having a little acid reflux and the doc said the leave would make it worse. I'm nervous cuz I really wanted the sleeve and my surgery is right around the corner August 18th

I have to get the bypass :/

Ok y'all. I'm about to cry. I have standard Wednesday night dinner plans with friends. They don't know what my surgery next week is. We discussed salmon, veggies, no carbs this week and berries for dessert. Instead we have potato/cauliflower pancakes and granita for dessert. I haven't eaten much today knowing to save most of my calories. I wish I wasn't so hungry! I guess I'm going to have to tell them sooner rather than later....

Ok day 3 update!

Gas has significantly gone done. Incision points are still extremely sore but all together not that bad. Should have been released today but I had an erratic heartbeat last night so I have to stay overnight.

Keep faith it's not that bad. The liquid diet leading up to operation is great makes you crave less when you're sipping tiny amounts of fluids out of medicine cups. Haha good luck everyone!

1 week post-op and feeling really good. For those just a day or two out, it does get better. Hang in there!

And I lost 12 lbs since surgery so I am very happy!

Have to do full liquids for another week then move to puréed. Never thought I'd be excited about puréed food but I so am!

I came home today. First night was tough. With the IV had to go to bathroom every 2 hours and getting in and out of the bed hurt so much I decided to sleep in recliner. Felt better today. Wearing my abdominal binder all the time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
