Official August thread! Where are you guys?

It's so hard but exciting watching all the June people go in and seeing the July bunch start their pre-op diets and get ready for their big day, soooo I thought I would start a August thread for those of us who are gearing up for our turn!!

I have an August 13th date and start my pre-op diet in July 30th and time seems to be dragging by.. I have read all my books combed through this web site and been inspired!!

I have a few worries like my pre-op diet (3 Protein shakes a day and 64 ounces of Clear liquids only) what a bummer I am strangely excited to start that process but know it will be a challenge to be liquid only.. I have heard about the Swanson infused broths and planned to try those but I suppose our area hasn't caught up with the progressive world because our stores don't have them. So hopefully I can order from wal-mart website.. I have not even purchased any protein powders or Vitamins. I sure am excited though. I can't wait to "meet" more August RNYers.

That's my time too! Well, 5:45 but close enough! :D

Congrats to both of you.

had my surgery Aug 10TH. because of other health issues (sleep apnea, diabetes, kidney issues-you name it, it seemed I have it) I was put in ICU immediately after surgery. They were concerned with anesthesia. they had a hard time taking me out of intibation..I think the main thing I was unaware of was the pain from the gas used to inflate your stomach for the surgery until you pass gas, it nestled between my shoulder and was very ,very painful. more than the actual surgery. today is the first day I can say that part doesn't hurt. Now I am really struggling to get the protein in by the end of the day.

on the first day in the hospital, the very first sip of protein was fine then like 15 seconds later I "forgot" about sipping and downed what was left of the 1Oz. in the cup and got excruciating pain for the next 4 hours. phew have not made that mistake since.

so any hints on getting that protein in will be greatly appreciated.

Try drinking the protein shakes at room temperature rather than cold. I learned that warm drinks hurt less than cold ones

Tiggerbug you were already allowed to eat pureed foods?? I was sleeved August 3rd and still on a full liquid diet...no solid foods allowed...
