Official August thread! Where are you guys?

It's so hard but exciting watching all the June people go in and seeing the July bunch start their pre-op diets and get ready for their big day, soooo I thought I would start a August thread for those of us who are gearing up for our turn!!

I have an August 13th date and start my pre-op diet in July 30th and time seems to be dragging by.. I have read all my books combed through this web site and been inspired!!

I have a few worries like my pre-op diet (3 Protein shakes a day and 64 ounces of Clear liquids only) what a bummer I am strangely excited to start that process but know it will be a challenge to be liquid only.. I have heard about the Swanson infused broths and planned to try those but I suppose our area hasn't caught up with the progressive world because our stores don't have them. So hopefully I can order from wal-mart website.. I have not even purchased any protein powders or Vitamins. I sure am excited though. I can't wait to "meet" more August RNYers.

So is everyone near goal?

I'm 2 pounds further than goal and still have 6 weeks until I am 1 year out. I'm very pleased.

I am 3 pounds below my personal goal of 150 and 7 pounds from my surgeons goal of 140. I think i might make it there by my first surgiversary.

I'm still 50 pounds from my goal, but I also started at almost 400 pounds the day of surgery. Down 168 since surgery August 17th. :)

I've lost 100, still 25-30 to go to meet my goal. Won't make it by Aug 26th, but I WILL make it :)

Every doctor is different. It has been my experience that they pre-or diet is a.) to help you lose some weight before surgery and/or b.) to clear your stomach and gut of any food that may be left in there before surgery. It wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor why he/she hasn't suggested this. When is your surgery? Maybe you are still to far out before surgery they will discuss this with you as you near your surgery date.

On another note, congrats on your upcoming surgery. Its completely life changing! Good luck and keep us all posted.
