August 11th sleeve Tijuana I can't believe it's only 10 days away! I have 8 lbs more to lose. Must stick to liquids and veggies for 10 more days 4 down woot woot!

August 7th in Cancun for me. Well wishes to everyone!

I wish I had known about Cancun that sounds awesome!

Alright, this is my first post and I am excited (and slightly nervous) to say that my surgery is scheduled for Aug 17th. Today is my first day on the pre-op diet and the first few hours are going ok. I set hourly reminders in my phone to drink my Water, Protein, Jello, etc. I figured if I can stick to an hourly regimen (as much as possible), then maybe I will have better luck. I have already had small gurgle noises coming from my stomach. Thankfully I have a very understanding boss and told him to ignore all weird noises my body makes and to please have patience with me if I seem grumpy or irritable. :) I'm not looking forward to how I will feel this weekend, as I like to go out and eat on the weekends and obviously that is out of the question. I begged my husband to keep me occupied as much as possible. I know I can do this. I purchased the vanilla Protein powder from costco. I'm not going to lie, it was pricey but it only has 2g of carbs and 24 or 25g of protein! I am allowed 5-6 a day as long as each Protein Drink is under 15g of carbs, so that gives me wiggle room to add flavorings. I am aiming for 5 Protein shakes a day. No real food for me. I saw someone mention they can have raw veggies and got jealous! :) Alright fellow August people, lets kick some butt!

We can do this! We want to do this!

I can't wait to be a healthier and skinnier me!!!!

Good luck on your surgery! I am excited for all the August people. It starts tomorrow. I am not till the 25th so most will be done before then.
How's it going on your first day?

Hey! I'm due to be sleeved on August 4th!!!! I am soooooo excited! My husband was sleeved on July 28th and he is doing great already lost 10lbs since his surgery!!!!!

wow! 10 lbs congrats to him! Excited for you too!

I am having a procedure called SIPS on Aug 6th in Alabama. It is new for our area and I was wondering has anyone else ever heard of it? It is a combination of the gastric bypass and sleeve. My doctor is the only one doing it in my area and suggested this because I would loose more points on my BMI than just the bypass and as overweight as I am it would helped. Just hoping someone else has heard of it and can share some information.

Katwooten

Please tells more about it, as it sounds interesting!!

It is a combination of sleeve and bypass but I am only reconnected at one place. It is new with out a lot of information but it has been successful with diabetics. I googled it and found information on it!

Whoo Hoo! August 6th for me in Wisconsin. I'm in the "preparing the nest" phase of buying Vitamins, Protein samples, water/shaker bottles and figuring out what to puree. liquid diet of course!

I ordered a bunch of Protein samples from Nashua Nutrition. My NUT suggested I wait until after to try them as my preferences/taste may change.

I'm a little anxious as this is my first surgery and I'm coming home alone (I have a friend to transport me home).

Good luck everyone!

I'm scheduled for bypass on August 10th. I only have to start the liquid diet the day before then nothing to eat after midnight. My doctor does the endoscopy during surgery in case patients have a hiatal hernia she can correct it and check for leaks in the new pouch at the same time. Has anyone else heard of this? I've bought all my powder and Vitamins and I am so anxious!

Hi everybody, August 4th is my date. Jennylew we are on the same boat, I am also having a revision from lapband although my band was taken out August '13 due to complications. I'm not sure what procedure you're having, I'm going with the RNY this time around. Also having weird dreams and don't know how to interpret them and I worry. I tell myself it's part of my anxiety and try not to dwell on it too long. I am waiting for test dates which coordinator is working on that now... hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I have stocked up on supplements, Soups, Protein, and Jello as well so I'm just playing the waiting game now.

I'm new to this forum and not sure how to add friends but keep in touch and let me know how your process goes. Good luck to you all.

good luck to you

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
