Stage 2 diet / full liquids & pureed food

Recommended Posts

I'm 11 days post-op and happy to report things are looking up. I was sleeved 6/15. The nausea lasted 5 days followed by gas and bloating. I'm still suffering from the occasional gas and bloating but I finally got the okay from my surgeon to move to stage 2. As of right now I'm only doing dairy-free Protein Drinks, thinned mashed potatoes and thinned bean Soups. I was curious to know what else everyone is eating/sipping at this stage?

SF pudding or SF Jello (yuck).

strained FF (low sodium) Soups. I loved broccoli & cheese.

SF applesauce

scrambled eggs (craved them)

refried Beans & avocado

I was pretty lucky my sleeve has been kind to me...if I could blend it (had no seeds) to mush and it met the criteria for LF, FF, SF, etc I tried it....

I am in soft food now, been struggling a bit with it. Not really because of my sleeve, but more of my own fear.

I've been having various Soups, greek yogurt, SF applesauce... I tried oatmeal, that went poorly. I ended up in bed with some crazy nausea with that. I tried a baked potato last night and that went fine. Scrambled eggs have also been successful.

Next week I hope to move on to some egg salad and chicken salad if I can increase my bravery levels :)

I was sleeved on 6/10/15.

It's interesting how fear plays into it. I made hummus yesterday and that was not a good choice. I was bloated and full of gas. Not fun. Baby steps.

I was sleeved on 6/15 as well. I'm on full liquids at this point and am doing well on strained broccoli-cheese Soup, a Campbell's roasted poblano queso soup (chiles strained out!), and Imagine brand creamy potato leek soup. sugar free pudding is good, but Jello is not, and I tried Greek yogurt the other day and felt weird and gurgly with it. I've been making my Protein Shakes with light soy milk (started with almond milk but got really tired of the taste after a few days).

Today is my last day of full liquids! Yeah! Tomorrow I get to try puréed foods and 3 days later on to soft! I'm so bored with full liquid I could scream. Drinking doesn't seem to bother my sleeve. I can drink (water especially) relatively quickly. That's a relief since 2 liters a day seems way low for my usual Water intake. I'm looking forward to eating real food and hopefully a full sensation after 1/4 -1/2 cup!

I was sleeved on 6/10 and am now on soft foods. I try to do a greek yogurt in the morning followed by cantaloupe or honeydew. Then I drink crystal light sweet tea. For a snack I do string cheese and found it very easy to snack on tuna with light mayo. For dinner I have had success with Talapia and very soft green Beans but today I had snow crab and OMG it was wonderful. If you prep plan your food it certainly helps.... Just remember to chew, chew, chew. I had fish stick 1x and oh please, never again! Doing good, down 22lbs.

Ok, now that I'm so close to purée stage... Would it be a mistake and cheat one night early? I want to sit and have dinner with my family tonight even if it's just cottage cheese or refried beans!!!

I was sleeved June 8 and I am right with you on the diet. Some things go down easily and others (tuna) make me sick. Tried baked fish...that was okay and ham salad on a couple saltines was great. I almost felt normal. It's such a learning curve with no rules that fit everyone! Hang in there...day by day, right? ????

I had some rotisserie chicken today... OMG, food has never tasted so good lol And it didn't give me any trouble! You been having any trouble with the saltines? I'm be a little scared to try them.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
