@Gumpgal Wow what a small world! Thats great to have another local going thought it with me, I understand he is an amazing doctor as well. I have a friend who has their surgery with him and they are verf pleased. I will be having Dr. Uchal since I have to have Bypass done vs. Sleeve. My surgery should be very close to yours as well from what they are telling me.

My name is Karl BTW and I will add you here as a friend so we can stay in touch that would be great! Are you having the sleeve done?

Hope to talk to you soon! have a great and safe 4th of July weekend.

Karl G.

@@Gumpgal were you dealing with Linda at St. Vincent weight loss? How long did it take them to get you an appointment for surgery after you met all your needs for Insurance. Thanks for any info you can share. Also do you have Aetna by any chance?

Hi everyone!

I am new and still deciding - part of me feels I have not given it my all in a while.. At the same time I don't want to waste more of my life. Insurance requires 6 months wait so I can take that time to put in the effort then decide is what I am leaning towards.

I like my doctor and only had my initial so far - next week I have nutrition class. I may go check out Urchal and Herraras seminar next week as even though I like my doc he is very pro band and it really shows. I was thinking more sleeve and everything I hear is opposite what he said. I think I want to like him more than I actually do.

What are your experiences with the doctors in Jacksonville?

May go to Uchal & Herreras seminar next week.

@@Karlnjax I used North Florida Bariatric, my Advocate was Amber. After insurance approval the Surgeon's office schedules the surgery day. They were ready to schedule. The first available appointment was three weeks out, which isn't bad.

@@Leesa definitely get a second opinion. I adore Dr. Herrera. He will answer any and all questions you have, and will let you make the final decision without pressuring you one way or the other. He's definitely worth talking to.

@@Leesa926 I agree with @@Gumpgal totally! Please go to the seminar and make sure you feel right about your decision! Only you can do that! Both her doctor and mine are AMAZING! they both have stellar reviews as well. As for your 6 months doctor monitored time... It goes by super fast! I could not believe how fast my 3 months was over. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns ????????

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
