do you think I need an unfill?

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I just have a question for you all. I had my last adjustment about 1 month ago. Everything seemed fine and I was eating normally and was even considering going for another fill. All of a sudden I have this unbelievable restriction. I mean it came from nowhere. I am really struggling to eat anything lately and I definately am not getting my Water in. I mean foods that I had no problems with in the past are completely off limits to me now. I don't want to go to Soups and soft things cause I asked for this help with the band and I want to work it to the best of my ability!!! Maybe I am not taking small enough bites or I am not chewing well.....I don't know. That's the reason I thought I would ask all of you and see what you say. So, my question is this - should I hold tight and hang on and see if it loosens up? (I should probably mention that I just got my little friend but that has never seemed to be a problem for me in the past) Or should I call the doc and see about getting some taken out.

Carmen-

Did you have a PB episode or a "stuck" episode that could have triggered the new tightness?

If I were you, I'd take three days off of regular food and see what happens. My doctor recommends cream based Soups when I'm swollen because they are heavier and pass through the stoma without needing much help from the esophogus.

Everyonce and awhile I'll have a tough time with being too restricted and once I go to soups for a couple of days I feel better.

But if in a couple of days you aren't feeling better, then I'd check it out with the doctor.

But, I'm not a doctor...not even a nurse! so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Megan

Carmen, you've done so well!! If you think you're having problems, please see your dr. You've worked too hard to risk losing your band now. Best of luck to you!

I'm on Depo, so I don't get my monthly little friend, but I've read that it creates alot of restriction creating Water retention. You might go to soupy stuff (as suggested above) for a few days and see if it doesn't back down. Then if your restriction goes back to normal maybe wait until your cycle again and see if it's just as bad the 2nd time around.

If you *can't* get solid food down, that's totally different than eating soupy stuff because it's easier, just make sure you know which one you are. :)

My "little friend" definitely affects me every single month. First I lose restriction for a couple days while aliens in my belly want to eat live creatures and all food not locked up, but then I bloat up and get good restriction.

Carmen... It's pretty normal to have your fill really kick in a month afterwards but I don't think you should be so restricted that Water is difficult to drink. I think I would call and see about getting a wee bit removed.

Carmen didint you metnion your husband was ill and that is why you could not get away to Vegas for the bash? With that said, Stress can play a big factor in restriction. For me when I have something stressful going on in mylife I have total restriction. Also it is possible for your cycle to cause restriction too..for me some moths it does and some months it doesnt....if it persists, I'd call the doctor, having as little as .1 or.2 cc's removed makes a huge difference. I have also heard of fills taking time to kick in, maybe you are one of those. My first one kicked in after 2 weeks but my 2nd fill was immediate so you just never know, these bands are so fickle. Hang in there

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
