1st of all before I post some really good pics... your gonna thank me JUCY! LOL! Anyway, first of all I would like to thank Jenna and Gaget lady for making all this happen. I met some people that I don't know how I lived without them. I really enjoyed meeting each and every one of you. Some of us got closer than others, but that happens and I would not change anything other than I would try and talk with some of that others that I did not get to spend too much time with. Those that did hang out with me know that I am really quiet, shy and just... well...LOL! Anyway, also, Jenna's mom, Lynn has got to be one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. She is so sweet, she even showed some of us how to make cards. Thanks to Lynn too! I already miss everyone!

So this ones for you JUCY! AKA Supastar! and whats up Carla?????????

Hey girls! What's UP?

Jenna, I hope you and momma Lin made it home safely. I second what Melissa said, THANKS for organizing such a great trip and I'm so glad Lin was able to come... she's a great lady and I'm already saving up some pesos so I can fly to Phoenix for a visit!!! watch out :)

Melissa, don't you remember what cruise director Eric said.. what happens in Mexico - lives on forever on the internet! Like the pictures you posted of Judy! She'll LOVE you for that! I'm quite sure she's missing us already.... SUPASTAR! Hey to Dinah :D

Ali, I hope the flight home tomorrow to Greece goes by fast... maybe you can spend the 24 hr flight catching up on your sleep? It'll make up for the late night pajama party!

CAN'T forget Stephani.... she was too shy to say so, but her 1 year bandiversary was during the trip (6/20). HAPPY belated Bandiversary Stephani! Hi to Doug, I hope you guys enjoyed the trip... he's my hero for making it all the way up the rock climbing wall.

Alex, I'm so glad Paul came on the trip and you guys had a great time... he was really a good sport participating in the line dancing with us, and we enjoyed his company at dinner and the shows. He worked his butt off at Quest, it was so much fun!

Windy! What's happening, neighbor? Let's all get together and plan to go to Splashtown the next weekend you're free. I wonder if they're open on the 4th of July?

Jessica, Carol, where are you? Can't hide from us... check in when you get a chance.

Fran, I hope Judy's being real nice to you and not making you do too many chores. I'm so glad you were able to get to University Gen on Sunday morning to get unfilled... I know it put a damper on you're trip (not being able to keep anything down). How was the barbeque? Say Hi to Butch and Brenda, I'm glad they came along... hope they enjoyed their honeymoon trip! Howdy to Wayne too!

Well, that's all for now my friends. I'm beat, it's taking me a while to recover. talk with you soon,

Karla

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
