Good morning local ladies.

I work in Goshen and live in Montgomery. I got to Planet Fitness every Saturday and Sunday morning and try and go at least once after work during the week, but rarely actually get there.

Dr. Kwon did my band in Port Jervis and Dr. Winski will be doing my TT next month.

I've had slow weight loss--months of no scale change alternating with periods of good losses. During the plateaus, my measurements have changed.

I'm officially at goal weight, according to my doctor, but I really would like to go a little lower. Maybe after this belly goes, I'll be nearly there.

Nice to meet everyone,

MC

Hello Ladies -

This thread seems to be dying out, but I wanted to share my good news with all of you anyway. I am 2 months pregnant and very excited about welcoming baby # 2.

I just went for an unfill yesterday. I had been unable to eat anything without throwing it up for weeks and was definitely getting nervous. I had lost like 8 or 9 pounds. Normally I'd be psyched, but definitely not while pregnant.

What a difference the unfill made. Dr. Kurian only took out .06, but I can eat again. What a wonderful feeling to actually finish a whole slice of pizza without taking 5 trips to the bathroom.

Now that I can eat, I think it's going to be a real challenge for me to only gain the recommended 25 lbs my OB wants me to.

Wish me luck!

I live in Rockland and will be banded on 9/21 6 days from now. I go to Dr. Pucci office too. I am very nervous and can't wait for it to be over. I have been reading on some post that people have been put on a pre liquid diet before surgey but I have not I am following a diet high in Protein. I just found this board today so I hope I am doing the right thing. I am going to call monday just to make sure.:paranoid

Each doctor is different. I wasn't on a pre-op diet, but I am pretty sure the main reasoning is to shrink the liver before surgery.

Calling to make sure is a good idea.

Good Luck tomorrow Annie!!!!

Hi - I was banded on 7/17 by Dr. Rumbaut in Mexico, and am following up with Dr. Fielding at NYU. I have had 2 fills, 2.5 cc and am not doing well at all. With the first fill of 1.5cc I didn't have any restriction, and with the second fill of 1 cc just 5 days later I had great initial restriction, but it quickly wore off. I'm back to overeating after feeling discouraged because I have lost only a little weight.

I feel a nutritionist who has worked with lapband patients could be very helpful to me and would prefer to go here, in Westchester, rather than NYC. I'm wondering whether anyone can recommend an experienced, excellent nutritionist. Many thanks.

There is one at my surgeon's office but that in Middletown and I am not sure you would be willing to drive up here for that. you can start researching lapband and PM'ing any bandsters that you see have a NYC name.

Karen and Annie - I'm also a Rockland resident and had my surgery done by Dr. Rivera. I've also been to the support group meetings at Good Sam, although I missed November's due to a conflict.

I just joined the forum yesterday, so I am not good at this yet! I am also from Orange County. I was banded 8/15/07 at Valley Hospital in NJ by

Dr. Daniel Davis. I have lost approx. 50 lbs, but ran into a little snafu when I recently found out that I lost quite a bit of saline, which was how I found the site, cause of course I ran home to research what that meant as my doctor was very vague. Now that I found out what was wrong and that it wasn't my fault that I stopped loosing, I am back on track and excited about it! It is so wonderful to know that there are other people out there going through the same stuff. My surgeon is new to Orange County, he is out of Manhattan, so he doesn't yet offer support groups, so I am really glad I found you :cursing:!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
