is it possible to loose 30 pounds in 5 weeks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My nutritionalist wants me to loose 30 pounds in 5 weeks. Im eatting 800 calories a day. I went to a website that says you must deny yourself or burn 3500 calories to loose 1 pound. Further, their calculator says that I must intake 2600 calories to maintain my current weight. That means, even if I take in zero calories, I would only loose about 22 pounds in that time. If I eat 800 calories a day, I would only loose 17 pounds.

Is it possible to loose that much weight that quickly? Im currently at 330.

THanks

V.

Why would your nutritionalist want you to lose 30lbs in 5 weeks? Is it a pre-op diet?

Guess it depends on how you're doing it. I was on Optifast for just 2 weeks before surgery, and lost 15lbs. I was 280lbs. Heavier people usually have better initial results, so I'm sure it's POSSIBLE. I think 3 Optifasts plus the cup of veggies I was allowed a day, added up to about 900 calories.

It wouldn't be fun, and I would not envy anyone who had to do it for THAT long. Ugg!

Hi,

Yes, its a pre-op diet. They want me to loose 30 pounds before surgery. She says she didnt care how I lost it. I choose slim fast because I know exactly how many calories Im eatting. I have been on the adkins diet before and lost 60 pounds in 4 months. But this is a whole new level of weight loss. I was afraid to do adkins because I didnt think I would loose the weight in time. CJquilter do you mean you only ate 70 calories worth of protien? Am I eatting too many calories? Will I make it on two slim fast shakes and a low cal frozen dinner?

Vixie,

I weighed 321 pre-op and went on Optifast for 5 weeks and lost 35 pounds before my surgery, so I know it's possible. With the Optifast, I had 5 shakes a day, that was 800 calories per day. I really wasn't hungry as I had a shake every 3 hours during the day. I also made sure to get at least 80 ounces of Water a day. I know you can do it, it's not easy, but you can do it. Good Luck!

Hey Vixie...is Ortiz your Dr.?

You can definately lose that kind of weight by doing liquids for 5 weeks. Definately. It's hard, but so worth it! My hubby is on day 5 today of liquid shakes (4 a day). He's set for surgery on 7/18 with Dr. Ortiz. Send me an e-mail if you wanna chat! Take care,

Lili

I lost 18 lbs in 1 week I was at 298

I could not handle the shakes and so forth so I was put on 800 max cal per day and 60+ protien per day

It is possiable it may be hard but it is possiable make sure you drink lots of Water

The more protien you get in the better

Good luck to you

Except the SlimFast Carb Control/Low Carb Diet, which is quite a good supplement (other than the somewhat higher calories). It is available in chocolate and vanilla and is rich and creamy and very satisfying. It has much better Protein than the SF Optima or the SF High Protein. I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
