Hello! I'm so glad I stumbled across this particular thread! I am getting sleeved on 6/22/15! I am doing okay on the liquid diet (thanks to seeing some scale downward movement). I have invested a small fortune in various Protein powders. I have been obese since about age 4. Like many, I have lost and gained, but never sustained. I'm hoping this tool, along with all the support and encouragement, make the difference. I'm blessed to be married to the most wonderful man who is totally supportive.

To those who provided the lists above, thank you so much! I added several items to my shopping list. I'll keep in touch, and I hope you all do the same.

Actually talking of shopping list. Well, ive found this product online, it's called Protein Pasta and the brand is by my Protein. I dont know what to make of it to be honest but it looks like real Pasta and the texture is the same too. Dont quote me though as i havent actually tasted it yet. It is a high protein low carb, fat, sugar alternative to pasta. It's supposed to be used for people who want to increase their daily protein intake. I'll give you the nutritional information.

Per 30g uncooked

Protein 18g

Calories 109 kcal

Fat 2g

Sat fat 0.2g

Sugar 1.2g

Now this is the average whole wheat pasta per 30 g

Protein 4.3g

Calories 104 kcal

Fat 0.4

Sat fat 0.7

Sugar 0g

So basically the protein pasta has more than 4x the amount of protein and less than half the amount of carbohydrates. This sounds like a good product for the solid food stage (i know it's a long way off for us pre surgery sleevers). However im just a bit concerned about the actual ingrediants in this protein pasta, its got some funky things that ive never heard of.

Ingrediants

Vegetable Proteins, durum, semolina, white egg, thickner, seaweed extract, methianine, threonine, soy, anyicaking, silicon dioxide.

I think ive just answered my own question lol. If you dont understand whats in it then why bother eating it.

Dunno if you guys can shed some light. Would you buy it??

Sugarbabe...I probably wouldn't buy it. If you are craving a "noodle" I would do some spaghetti squash with plain marinara sauce. I'm only 6 weeks out and still can't eat more than a few bites so Pasta is not even a craving but it will be a good option later on.

Yea i shouldnt even be thinking of getting those sneaky carbs in. I just came accross this product and thought ah ha this could be ok. But i suppose with ingrediants like that in it its probably no good for me anyway. Ok so its a no for Protein Pasta.

Sugarbabe...who knows? You would have to try it. Look at all the other crap we eat that is no sugar. No telling what is in that. I personally try to stay away from most things with soy since I have pcos. I don't need any more estrogen. The great thing about having the surgery is that no matter what you can eat you can't eat much! I also have a little half cup bowl to measure my food so I know I am not stretching my stomach. You aready dreaming about Pasta but I miss cheeseburgers, soda, and popcorn.

@@AnA92212 - I was sleeved 5 weeks 1 day ago and have been having same problem with getting fluids in. I have decided to drink a water bottle I have (25oz) on the way to work, refill & drink before break 3 hours later & again before lunch. that would put me at 75oz before 11am. The last bottle I am going to try to finish before I go home and anything after would be a bonus. It is working so far :D

Yes thats it, apart from my Protein Shakes, i think im going to go organic. Sick of all these foods stating they are low fat, low sugar, low whatever, and if you look at the list of ingrediants which you would need a phd in nutrition to understand , its so misleading. So everytime i come across one of these supposed magic foods i can never work out if its actually good for me or not. So i thinks its just easier to go fresh. Fresh meat, fruit, veg, done!! Rant over. Lol.

Hey yall! Good luck to the preOpers and good work to the postOpers! Just wanted to share my fave way to get Proteins and veggies in. I use my Protein Powder (Combat Protein powder Cookies and cream flavor, by Muscle Pharm from Costco). Then I add about a cup of fresh spinach leaves (from the bags in produce dept), a half of banana, some milk, ice, and Peanut Butter powder (PB2). Throw it all in the blender and u get a yummy nutritious protein shake! U can't taste the spinach at all! The drink has a light green color but it is wayyyyyy tastier then the Protein Shakes alone! The spinach helps me use the bathroom without taking pills. There's so many different things u can add to the shakes to agree with your taste buds cuz the shakes alone kid of were hard to get down even preop! Look for different ways to make them. Greek yogurt and peanut butter also adds more protein to the shake which is always a plus! Another tasty treat is Fat free sugar free black cherry Jello mixed with greek yogurt! Again adds lots of protein even as a snack- it reminds me of jello with whipped cream when u mix it up. I also live on SF and FF Popsicles and Fudgicles! Very low cal snack that soothes my sweet cravings!

I wish lots of luck to everyone who's sleeved or getting sleeved! Knock it out the park people!!!! ✌️

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
