Who would you rather marry?

Recommended Posts

Gday, Marriage is not really my bag, so I picked neither. I am a non conventional person, so living in sin is okey dokes with me.:)

Having said that, it would be important to be best friends and have that romantic spark also. A combo of the two would be good. Susannah

If both was an option, I would have picked it. My husband is both my best friend and my romantic lover. I think both are important..

You are so right - there should have been a check off for both -- my husband is my best friend, the most romantic man I have ever known. I got the whole shootin' match!! Yee Ha

Same here -- my husband is my romantic love and best friend. I wouldn't have married him if he was just my best friend and I wouldn't have married him if he was just my romantic love. And of course I wouldn't have married him if he was neither.

My partner is both. We are not "married" yet, but she is the person I've picked to go through life with. She is my romantic love, my best friend, and the person who completes me.:)

I married my best friend in 1977 and stuck with him for 21 years.....all that time we remained just that "best friends" and never had the romantic "man/woman" relationship. We knew shortly after that we had made a mistake and should have left it at being best friends and we did dicuss throughout the years about divorce but things happened to otherwise occupy us separately....for the moment so to speak. But, eventually we realized that time was marching on very quickly and we needed to move on with our lives. I have been married now for 7 years to a wonderful man....we are best friends, lovers, and the romantic element is definately a big part of our success.

So....the moral of this story....I don't think marrying just because the person is your best friend always works....if you are going to be life partners romance has to be evident right from the beginning.

My romantic love turned into my best friend. A decade or so later, we may not be as "romantic" (kids, stress, fat, etc) as we were when we first got together, but our "friendship" more than makes up for it for us. Unconditional love, support, laughter, and excitement to see each other is what keeps us going all this time later!

I'm a big believer in both, so I didn't vote because "neither" didn't seem appropriate. You CAN have both (bwg).

I picked neither. I am remarried and yes we are/were best friends & the romance is somewhat still there and we both still love each other but things change after marriage at least in my experience.

There is more taking for granted and in my marriage I think I am less of a priority now that we are "married". But I wanted it, I wanted to get married more than he did and felt that that piece of paper really would make me more secure and say something about his love and commitment to me-it doesn't. It is a piece of paper, I'm not saying it's meaning less, it means a lot to me but the relationship is a helluva lot more important than a wedding ceremony.

I don't think I would do it again, and yes I love him.

I think a friend of mine has got it right, she owns her own home and her and her BF "visit" and go do fun things together you know all of the romance stuff but she has her own space to go back to and does not have to answer to anyone how she chooses to live her life.

Now my marriage experience though we love each other terribly has not been ideal for either of us so there you go.

-Sara

I agree, my husband is my best friend and a romantic. He's everything to me. The best part, he feels the same about me and he shows it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
