Maybe add a high Protein Bar? I look go 20+ grams of Protein for the least amount of calories. I like Quest bars the best.

Protein Soup packets?

Some Jerky if tolerable? Cottage cheese? Hard boiled eggs? chicken salad? Just throwing out a few things that have been good for me and some others. Good luck. There is some good info on this board .

I do know about lapband and not with sleeve so sorry if this is not workable for you.

Thanks but how do you eat enough real food to get that much Protein? I had the sleeve 8 weeks ago and can only eat 2 oz per meal. 8 oz of Protein Shake. The food alone doesn't give me enough protein.

My goal is 100 grams a day which means 20-25 grams per meal at least 4 times a day. My NUT said to plan for three meals and two Snacks. If my 3 meals have 25 grams of Protein and my snacks 10-15 grams then I am fine.

You have to eat frequent meals and Snacks if you can only eat a small amount at a time.

Make greek yogurt your new friend. I'm 4 months out and still have 1 shake a day and most days I have at least 1/2 cup of nonfat greek yogurt - either in a smoothie with Protein powder, or just with a little bit of preserves added. Especially right at first getting all your Protein in is difficult, but it's also essential - your body needs it to heal.

My NUT told me 60-90...I drink 2 Premier Protein shakes a day which are 30G of Protein each and then I have what I want for the last meal. In a pinch I have also made a smoothie with a Premier Protein shake and a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein Powder which gives me a total of 50 protein.

Someone mentioned that protein is crucial for healing...is it just for healing? or does it set us up for more weight loss?

You need to add some Snacks in. How far out are you? I get in 100 grams a day at 8 months out.

You can also buy unflavored Protein mix and add to food when you cook. Or add a scoop of unflavored protein along with your current Protein Shake mix to add more protein. I add it when I am mixing my eggs up to scramble.

@@MissLiss you might want to check with your NUT on drinking 50 grams of Protein at one time. It is my understanding your body can only absorb 25-30 grams of protein and anything above this amount is wasted.

At 8 weeks, I was just barely meeting the 60 gram requirement without Protein shakes. I was told to start weaning off of them at six weeks. But at the 8 week mark, my capacity was 1/3 cup and 2 tablespoons. Even at that, to get 60 grams in with that volume, I was eating about 15 grams with Breakfast ( one egg with 1/2 ounce of cheese and 1/2 ounce of meat).

A midmorning snack could be 7 grams of Protein (maybe an ounce of meat or a string cheese), then 15-20 grams at lunch with 1/2 hamburger - 2oz=14 grams protein with two tablespoons of refried Beans (another 7 grams).

For a mid-afternoon snack a 1/2 cup of Greek Yogurt is 10 grams, for dinner I could eat something like 2 ounces of baked chicken with 2 tablespoons of veggie for another 14 gram.

Then a bedtime snack might be 1/2 slice of deli ham rolled up with 1/2 slice of cheese for another 7 grams. That example would be a total of 80 grams. When I was further along, I might roll that up with a leaf of lettuce outside, a thin slice of Tomato inside and paint a little dab of mayo onto the ham.

If I am having a stregth training day, I might substitute of of my Snacks with a protein shake that has yogurt or milk blended in for 23 grams plus 7 grams = 30 grams I, too, heard that 30 grams max for one meal is all that can be absorbed. The rest is just expensive pee.

You might have to work your way up to your 60 grams of protein, but it can be done.

i am at 1 year out and i still drink a shake each morning - Syntrax Nexctar i love the chocolate - and i have some greek yogurt or a hard boiled egg around 10 - lunch is going to be something high in Protein as well - my afternoon snack is going to be a protein snack too - Peanut Butter or a protein bar is my favorite - i also drink a Syntrax Nectar somewhere in the day that mixes with Water for added protein (23 grams) and it helps with my water intake - then supper is going to high protein too and then right before bed a snack. i do this every day. I tried to cut out the shakes and supplements but my protein levels were low each time i went in to get a check up and it isn't worth it to try and just eat enough - i couldn't do it - so i drink the supplements.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
