Telling youu kids...

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I have a few weeks before my final NUT appointment. My boys, ages 7 and 14 have no idea that I plan to do this surgery. My oldest son has watched me struggle for years with my weight, exercising, eating healthy, but I have never made a point to say that I am struggling, or make negative comments about my weight. I want their self images to be positive, and not focus only on a scale.

How did you all decide to tell your kids? Your thoughts/experiences are welcomed!

Heather

I thought about the same things you have ,so I told my children I was having hiatal hernia surgery which was partially true because they did fix that while they were in there ,but to this day they still don't know almost 2 years later.

They assume all the weight was lost due to small portions, moving more and wanting to be healthier and I try to teach them the same...it's all about being healthy. Wrong or right this has worked for me . Best of luck on your decision & your surgery

My kids are younger 7,6 &3. I didn't tell them anything before and they honestly didn't notice that I was eating/drinking differently. When I got home though my oldest noticed something was up so I told them that the dr went in and fixed my tummy. They accepted that with no other questions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
