Blue cross Blue shield of NC

I was hoping to know how the process was for gastric bypass. I called bcbsnc and the lady wasn't very helpful in answering the requirements I have to meet to get my surgery approved. I know I have to have a bmi of over 40 since I don't have for now any other problems. what I am not sure is do I need proof of last 2 years weight with my physician or meet with a dietician. All info will be greatly appreciated.

I have blue cross blue shield, a different state. You can google bcbsnc gastric bypass and might get a page that tells you about it. My hospital assigned me a nurse advocate that does this everyday, so she helped push it through. I suggest meeting with the place that does surgery and they should help you. Good luck!

Thanks Kelli I should be scheduling an appointment soon. Bcbsnc stated that they approve if I meet the surgeons qualifications. But I thought bcbsnc required proof of last 2 years weight to approve, which is not on the surgeons website. I should get more info once I make the appointment and speak with him.
