Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC

Recommended Posts

Hi girls I was finally admitted to my local Hosp today and I cried in relief! My tonsils are so huge I was swabbing my own spit and dehydrating fast! I have a high pain tolerance but I had reached my 10. They had to do a CT scan of my neck with dye to check for abscess. That came back neg for now. I am on morphine and tordol which is quite lovely until the 5th hour. I'm supposed to be here for several days

Any issues with sleeping post op on a regular bed?

No issues E-girl. Just lots of pillows to lean against are good. Karliy, what a hot mess and a half. I'm so sorry you're having such a rough start!! :( Quarantined!! I wonder if it's from the intubation? Have you ever had tonsillitis before? I hope you feel better soon :)

I am considering him too. I filled out the health inventory but I'm waiting for ssdi to be approved. Janese has been wonderful to me so far.

I am also zeroing in on a Mexico surgeon and am most likely going to go with Dr. Ortiz. There is another thread on here that is something like 40-50 pages long with a wealth of information and personal stories of people who were sleeved by him. Look for that post for more info.

Hi everyone! Haven't been around for a bit but I'm glad to hear that we have so many people sleeved since I've been gone. My new surgery date is Dec. 30. Starting to seem real now. I really nervous about the pre opt diet. Can I use any low cal Protein Shake or do I have to order from OCC? Ihate to spend money on more when I have 7 bags of shakeology.

Thank you everyone for your concern!! It's been busy and hectic, yesterday was awful, started my journey back home at 6am and didn't get home until 1am the following day. Three flights, four airports and touching dirt in three different countries.

It's been overwhelming, emotional and tough in spots, but overall I shouldn't complain... I feel awful for Karlily!

Mouse, glad you made it home and Karlily, so glad you are recovering! My nutritionist here locally told me that if I ever think I need IV fluids, to call her and she'll arrange it for me in a local clinic without having to visit an emergency room. Nice in case I need it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
