Has anyone tried using HCG with post surgery diet?

Recommended Posts

Five years ago I lost over 65 pounds using HCG which is supposed to preserve muscle, trick the body into burning fat and accelerating weight loss. I gained most of the weight I lost due to poor habits, yea, go figure. I am sure I am not the only one who has tried HCG so just wondered if the combo of the Gastric Sleeve and HCG might work. Thoughts?

I have heard about it and I don't know much about it. Is this a good way to lose weight? And how long did you keep it off and how long did it take you to lose it?

I kept most of the weight off until I quit smoking and had a very stressful legal situation at work. After I get stabilized after surgery, 2 months or so, I might give it a try since I still have a good supply.

When I did hcg injections, I could only eat 5 different items and only 500 calories. I lost 40 pounds. I don't think that's a good combo with sleeve. Just my opinion.

I also don't think it's a good idea, if only because of the excess skin and Hair loss. You usually have both from WLS and the hcg will make it worse, I think. I lost 45 lbs on hcg a few years ago but gained it all back plus more after I stopped the diet!

I was sleeved so I could stop the cycle of fad diets and tomfoolery. Now I eat healthily and exercise.

It works.

exactly. Give the sleeve a chance. Why are you thinking about pills already? I'm glad I'll never have to do a fad diet again!

There is no way I would use it with a sleeve. Just looking for trouble if you ask me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
