I'm starting to get worried about my pre-op appointment. I wish I could just do it and get it over with. I have all of the chewables (multi-Vitamin, Calcium, & B12) I have found a Protein shake that I like. I have stocked up on broth and sugar-free Jello. It's similar to being pregnant and being in week 38. You have the nursery ready, plenty of bottles and diapers. You're just waiting for the action to happen! Only thing is, I can't walk around to help induce labor!

I'm concerned about the exercises. I have COPD that will drastically improve with weight loss, but at the current time, I cannot walk long distances and I can't stand for long periods of time without my back hurting for 2 days afterward. I have certain goals that don't have to do with pounds. I want to be able to cook dinner for my church youth group and then be able to serve it as well. I want my daughter to be able to hug me and get her arms all the way around me. I want to be able to ride a bicycle with my kids and go jogging with them. I want to be able to wash more than 3 pair of jeans and still have room in the load.

I just started the process in May, my second time now because 3 years ago when I was trying to get insurance approval, my insurance changed and I was denied. This time I made sure my insurance covers it. I had everything done 3yrs ago too, the 6mo diet and all. This time I've already been seeing my pcp monthly and was told at my orientation appointment that those checkups should count towards by required 6mo diet. So far I've had 2 appointments with the weight loss clinic and I've gained weight. Has anyone else gained during the pre-approval process? It's almost like I've been eating all the things I feel like wont be able to have again so I may as well eat up. I know that's the wrong way to look at it and I'm afraid gaining will hurt my chances. Has anyone else done this?

Congrats to those that have their dates! I'm going through Virtua here in southern NJ..all steps completed except for last nutritionist meeting and psych eval which are both this week. Then off for insurance approval. I hope that doesn't take too long. Excited yet nervous. Glad to be part of such a great group though.

I began this journey in July. So far I have gone to an informative seminar, 2 support group meetings & have consulted with my surgeon. I have since been cleared by my pulmonary Dr for surgery, consulted with my Gastro Dr and have had an upper GI exray, Tuesday I have my Endoscopy & H Pylori test. Consulted with Cardiologist and am scheduled for stress test & echo on the 13th and lastly I had my psych evaluation. My goodness July was a very busy month.

I have Health Republic insurance of NY and the require 6 months of a supervised diet & nutrition counseling.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
