My calendar never looked so full! Too bad it was mostly doctor's appointments LOL And each doctor was usually at least 3 visits: for the initial appt, for the testing, and then for the follow up. Well, that's all behind us now, and we have a lot to look forward to.

YES, AYRW71! I get that all the time from my family. I've gone down 1.5 dress sizes in the past month (thanks to 1200 calorie diet & medication) and they want to know why I still want to have the surgery. Thank you for providing me with such an excellent response!

@@dena1258, and all others who have had their EGD (endoscopy). How did it go? How did you feel afterwards? Mine is scheduled for tomorrow and want to go out of town for the weekend--with my husband driving, of course. Did you feel okay, or did you just want to stay in bed?

thanks!

The endoscopy is not a big deal at all. I've had 2 of them, one time they gave me oxygen with a nasal cannula, the other time they didn't. Guess it's up to the anesthesiologist. They'll start an IV, and give you medication, usually propofol, and you'll go off to sleep. It usually lasts about 15 minutes, and you'll wake up not even knowing anything happened. I never had a sore throat or anything. You can't drive that day since you had anesthesia, but you'll feel fine. For me the rest of the day was just like any other day. You'll be fine for the weekend-have a good time!

@@haleylhs I just received my chewable Vitamin from opurity (same company that makes Unjury). Was super excited, all the reviews were positive and said it tasted better than Flintstones....oh boy. NOT. Super gross, almost choked chewing it. Plus it is HUGE! I was excited that it is a 'one-a-day', but no surprise since the thing is ginormous!!! I think it would fine to grind up in a smoothie, but no way I could chew this thing the first week after surgery. Going to try dissolving it in Water tomorrow. But, needless to say, super disappointed. Guess I'll have to find something different at least for the first couple weeks---ugh. This stuff is too expensive for 'trial and error".

Looking forward to any vitamin suggestions!

I'm scheduled for July 16th. I've completed all of my tests and my insurance has already approved the procedure. In the meantime, I read this board every day and keep doing everything that I can to educate myself.

I wasn't anticipating what an emotional journey this is. Fear, hope, excitement, relief, happiness - sometimes changing from hour to hour.

I'm so happy that I found this board. It's such a supportive, welcoming community and I have already learned so much from so many of you.

July 7th here with Dr. Richard Ing at Bryn Mawr Hospital. In the second week of the liquid diet and losing a good bit of weight quickly. Don't sweat the pre-op diet. It def gets easier after a few days.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
