Hey Daddy! Welcome to the August bunch!

OK--My nutrition appt. has been pushed back to July 25th in combo with the preop appt. The lady said be sure you are drinking your Protein drinks so that the weight is coming off. OMG, I was going to start that next week but I guess I'd better go ahead! I need to have 15-20 gone before Aug. 7th and they are going to be checking in on me on the 25th.

Anyone else supposed to already be doing the Protein shake thing already?

PigsRFlying, My pre op nutrition appointment is July 17 and that is when I'm going to start the pre op diet. They haven't said anything about starting now, so I'm still over-indulging almost every day. I know I'd be better off if I started now, but I wouldn't be getting the band if I could do it on my own. Two weeks before surgery is going to be hard enough. Have you other August bandsters started your pre op diets?

Hi all you Augusteers,

I am joining you with a date for banding of August 1st.

I am 64 yrs old and would love to hear from someone else getting banded in August who is about my age. I think I am about the oldest one on this site.

Wishing all of you luck and happiness..

Hello All -

This is my first post - but I too will join the August Bandster gang.

As of right now - I am scheduled for August 1st - providing that all of the pre-surgery stuff gets accomplished by then. I'm of course getting nervous as the days go on. But no Protein shakes for me until after the surgery. The only pre-op diet was a 1000 calorie meal plan for 2 weeks prior to shrink the liver I believe.

Good Luck Everyone!!

Christine

I have been pleasantly surprised to see that not all the folks on this forum are very young. I've read lots of success stories from people over 50. There is a thread called "How is the lapband for people over 50?" under general topics. I wish I knew how to make a link to it. Does anyone know how to do that? Anyway, look for it out. I'm sure you'll find lots of encouragement there. Becky

Or the "Crazy Eights"! Congrats to you and your friend. It would be great to have a friend to go through this with. That's why I'm on this forum. I need all the support and encouragement I can get. Good luck to both of you.

Hi I had my nut approval in May 2007, met with the psychologist in May 2007, passed the psychological exame with flying colors, seminar oops March 5, 2007, Met with the Bariatric Dr on June 3, and the dietititian on July 5 and now I am just waiting to hear about what the insurance company tells me. I reside in Texas and I am under a Federal Health paln called Firstcare. I will attend a pre surgical class and andother dietary class on July 19 it is a two hour event. Now is this all natural to be doing all of this before even getting approved by the insurance company or waht. I am trying to have the Lapband done, however some of the information I ahve been getting sounds more like what they do to a person haveing he roux-en-y bypass.

Sharon2U, maybe your doctor's office is very confident that your particular insurance will approve the band. My pre-op appointment and nutrition class weren't scheduled until after I was approved and my surgery date was set. You might try posting this question on the main forum or the insurance thread to get responses from more experienced people. Good luck

He everyone! I thought I was going to be banded this month, but it looks like it will be August instead. We leave for a cruise Aug. 9th and school starts the 16th so I am going to ask for a date of Aug. 20th. They only do surgeries on Monday's and Tuesdays, but that's about the soonest I could have it done. Anyway, I am excited and hope I can lose a few pounds prior to surgery. I look forward to hearing about and sharing fears, expectations, experiences, etc.

Also, as far as the name goes -- I am up for anything, but what about Awesome August bandsters? I liked Crazy 8's too.

I'm sooooo thrilled to have so many fun, creative, energetic and beautiful people to share this life changing time with! Wow! Who knew that August 2007 would be THE MONTH that we would find new friends and begin a new life....all because of a little band that we are all having placed on our tummy????? It's just one of life's pleasant surprises!

I like all of the name suggestions for our group.......they are all great! The other day I was thinking about August being "8" and got a kick out of the fact that it could also be "ATE".....as in "I ate too much"......;):D ...I guess you had to be there....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
